OSU game

lack of defensive rebounding is really putting the Horns in a hole.

0 points between Gayle and Reed? Don't deserve to win when your 6'4 posts can't even get one basket . . .

Just when you think we've turned a corner... raise your hand if you want to chalk these last two games up to EA being out.

Of course we've missed Erika. No doubt about that.....but,

our opponents have also started double-teaming Cokie and AG in the post....kinda like a defending Griner type style (collapse on them). I realize we have to be conservative with the two of them..............but, try them both together one time in a game.

Could possibly turn into a block party for AG, assists for AT, and a scoring machine from Cokie!!

Just my thoughts...........

I didn't sleep well last night, too aggravated by this loss....

Just so frustrating!! Ahead by 16 at one time, and then to have a DEAD ZONE and let them back in....

How does a team as good as Texas learn to keep the "pedal to the metal" for 40 min.??

It seems like every loss reflects something "dropped"....@ A&M, it was turnovers, yesterday; rebounding.....

Well, hopefully, we win out from here...and at least OU lost, so that was at least a slim ray of light!!

Unbelievable that Cokie nor Gayle scored a point. They must smell blood and go for broke in the post. Stop being SOFT and go for the jugular. But what's more interesting is Gayle had 2 FGA and Cokie had 3 FGA. Kristen had 2 and made 2.

Come on Horns - you must play 40 minutes of ball. We gave this to OSU.

I'm really hoping we can win out so we can get a 3 seed in the big dance. I would MUCH rather face one of the 2 seeds in the sweet 16 than Tenn in TN, Stanford in CA, or UConn anywhere! Come on Horns!!!

I'm not sure why an opponent doubling the posts would be an issue for us since our top 3 scorers are a wing, a combo forward, and a point guard.

IMO, our two largest post players should be getting more than a collective five shots per game. I watched the game online and it did not appear that the zone OSU used in the 2nd half disrupted our 3 point shooting attempts, our accuracy just cooled off considerably. In the first half we shot 53.8% (7-13) from BTA, only 22 percent in the 2nd half (2-9), 25% in OT (1-4) for a game total 38.5%.

It appeared OSU gambled that we would not catch fire again and sagged on the posts. That strategy worked. Given their proximity to the basket, and the sheer size advantage Cokie and AG had over the OSU posts, one would hope they could have been more of an offensive and rebounding factor. Give OSU credit, their defense caused turnovers and disallowed entry passes to the posts. We had too many scoring droughts to pull the game out.

The way to stop scoring droughts is to have dominant post players. I don’t care what defense the other team plays, zero points from your two top post players in inexcusable. All post players have to learn how to play against double teams. You either score anyway, or get to the line. I didn’t get to see this game so I don’t know if we just didn’t get the ball to them, they didn’t present themselves as a target, or they were too eager to always toss it back outside. The bottom line is that it didn’t happen, and if you depend on outside shots for all of your scoring you are going to have periods of time when you have trouble getting points.

AG and Cokie have a world of physical talent. But, they need to quickly figure out how to get the ball in the post and then make the other team pay. Just like rebounding, much of it is an attitude. This team could win out. But, if the posts don’t score they are also capable of losing to anyone.

I have also thought any number of times this year that I would like to see both of them on the floor at the same time. I don’t get to watch film, but it seems like the few times they have been there the results have been good. I understand the risk of getting them both into foul trouble. But, that seems like playing from fear to me. I would prefer to be the aggressor. Make the other team foul us.

….While I am upset……I love Kat Nash and what she brings to this team. But, I would sure like to have her watch some film of Heather Schreiber. Heather did a number of things very well. In particular she had a spin move she would use on the baseline to get an open shot, or to the basket, that I miss……..And AT could watch some film of Edwina Brown and the way she was able to create her own shot almost at will…….and, oh well….go Horns. Just beat OU and I’ll be happy again.
