Man, these guys are swarming today. Melton looks like a beast unleashed.

Orakpo is getting held all over the field, but it looks like he is drawing some double teams too.

For his first two seasons at the Forty, I hated Melton because he was/is an awful tailback. It was misplaced resentment, though, because the coaches were to blame for being inexplicably blind to his shortcomings and using him in that role.

Based on his running style, I didn't think Melton would be physical enough to play end, but he played well toward the end of last season and is really starting to blossom this year. If Melton continues to emerge, defenses will double Orakpo, Miller or Houston at their peril, because that'll open things up for Hammerin' Hank.

Long story short, the guy could wind up playing on Sundays. He's raw, but the physical ability is certainly there.
 
getting the sack, causing the fumble, and then getting up and going to get the recovery has to be one of the best effort you're going to see.

Rak's stat line after 4 games:

17 tackles (Tie for 3rd on team)
8 TFL (1st)
6 sacks (1st)
2 Br Ups (Tie for 2nd)
6 QBH (2nd - Melton has 7)
2 FF (1st)

Has to be considered one of the leading contenders for the Lombardi at this point.
 
It kills me to think that Melton spent so much time at RB. Good to see him shining on defense.

How long has it been since we've gotten this kinda pressure on the QB? They're getting pretty good pressure with just the front 4.
 
I think you scanned the info too quick. ABC did indeed say Arkie had 15 sacks. It also said 5 of them had been made today. I know there were several more sacks during the game.

I liked what I saw on defense today.
 
I just verified the stats. Arkansas QB's have been sacked a total of 17 times this year. We made 7 of those 17 yesterday.

That is amazing.
 
Orakpo's #'s are ridiculous right now. I thought he would have a good season, but 6 sacks thru 4 games? Wow. He's also had a # of times where he chased the QB into just throwing it away.

This is the sack monster we have been searching for for years. Enjoy it while it lasts people.
