A couple years ago I made it my own personal rule not to visit horn fans after a loss. Sometimes I would talk about things that went right and wouldn’t be called a sunshine pumper and I can live with that. Fire away amigos.

1. I was concerned about a place kicker and I’m no longer concerned that hair bear kid was money whilst dealing with a high pressure long field goal.

2. The OL is pass blocking about as good as I’ve seen in a long time and that freshman left tackle plays like a senior.

3. Please don’t correct me on the time left guess, but we had much less than a minute to go. The Longhorns drove the field and kicked a tying field goal -kudos to them. Cards a stud.

4. Card is a warrior if you don’t think so then I’m gonna question your allegiance and football IQ.

5. The DL is/has played fantastic against the run. Keondre is stuffing people.

6. Jaylon has been a workhorse linebacker.

7. We have a walk on transfer punter from Texas Wesleyan that is really really good. Who saw that coming.

Dam, Texas cannot catch a break from the officials this year.

1. You mean Shirley Temple?
4. Card gives us 100% of everything he's got. I appreciate that. He has areas still needing improvement though.
6. Yes. Mulligan granted on the first game.

There are plenty of warriors out there not capable of making an FBS roster. I personally do not think Card has the full scale of tools to lead this team to the next level that we need to get to coming off a 5 win season from last year. That's not a not knock on the kid's character. I think Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard both deserved to be classified as warriors but we had losing records with them both as QB.

Holy cow- I didn't realize Trejo was a Texas Wesleyan transfer so I looked him up and he graduated from my high school- Castleberry! Definitely, the first Castleberry Lion to play for UT and probably the first to play for a major D1 program since Mike Richardson in the 60's who was a RB for SMU and then the Oilers. Thanks for mentioning that NRHorn!

You are correct, this team did not quit and thats different than last year. The OL was not stellar saturday and that was disappointing given some of the performances this year (not all). The d is what the d is. 1 year and 4 games so we know what we are going to get from you know who. Does it take cdc to make the call???

Will hornfans please exert their collective influence to hire Nancy Pelosi new head football coach? Not political! Just my wish list

Just trying to stir up some stuff. But bro. #4 plays the toughest position in sports by far, has started a whopping 4 games and in that 4th game played a better game than #6 ever has, but he gets a mulligan?

With that said Ford made is best play ever versus Tech. And he’s play hard.

This coming from one of the few mofos you’ll come across that’s played both positions. Best elementary school flag football team in America.

Shirley Temple? More like Carrot Top
I applaud Card, but he is just another Case McCoy to me. Not great, but still able to get the ball down the field and can motor his legs when he needs to.
I wish I had an answer for our Defense. I am tired of watching them run in pursuit only to have the ball dropped off to a receiver 5 yards down the field. Either we have played some really fast QBs or we are being out coached. Maybe both.

tons of uncalled holding and blocks in the back going on out there.
I don’t think big 12 officiating crews are professional enough to call a clean game against us. Anyone watch the OU / Kstate game to see if it was more of the same?
The missed call that sticks out to me was Barron, I think, coming in in a corner blitz with an OL behind him holding on for dear life.
Out in the open, Barton’s hands extended up to draw attention.

I must becoming immune. I didn’t notice them live although there have been a few I’ve seen on replay. Maybe it’s just not near 2008 levels.

1. So far I like our current coaching staff and leadership better than any in the past 10 years
2. Less bad apples or locker room cancers who dont care about nor respect the university
3. More leaders attempting to lead better and taking responsibility
4. More NFL draft prospects or likeky candidates than in recent memory
5. Better/improving depth and competition at most all positions
6. Up until the second half this past week much improved play calling
7. Up until this past week and the first few series of UTSA the most assertive, decisive, and confident D I've seen here in awhile
8. Outside of HF we for once arent overrated or just expected to walk out overnight and be a top team again
9. Defensive pass coverage and scheme downfield is great
10. Pass blocking still not good but slightly improved
11. Most talented and high ceiling QB we've had since Colt in house and about to return
12. Young, talented oline that will improve
13. Talented though currently banged up WR room
14. Higher rated recruiting class(es)/guys coming
15. Favorite players are:
Dem0, Banks, Jamison, Ewers, Bijan and the guy who gets his own # here....
16. Roschon Johnson

Rain,

Nice post; I agree with most of your points, but some will never acknowledge just how deep we had sunk and how serious the cancers were.

I continue to harp on the OL and had a thought after Saturday. Where is Mike Sherman? Is he still alive? If the defense can have Gary Patterson, why can't the offense have Mike Sherman? The guy was the best evaluator and developer of OL talent in college football.

We are paying top dollar for inferior production, and I don't want to bring in "retreads" at every position to help our huge payroll try to earn their keep. That said, we need help and need it quickly, and this seems our quickest way to establishing our rightful position as a power.

If Campbell can't beat out Hutson or Connor, he's developing slower than we anticipated.

Could we get lucky and find a Neyor in the rough through the portal? Even a DTD would be a nice get for the OL.

The OL boys need a little growing/strengthening time. The true frosh or even soph that is strong enough to be effective at that age is VERY rare. The need for power is especially true in the run game and I think that's evident from what we see on the field. They've got pretty good feet so you can mask some of the strength deficiencies short term with that. However, I think you need real power to reestablish the line of scrimmage at the snap.

I agree with all the sunshine being pumped here.
It is, however, very irksome that we lost another game in which we had a comfortable lead. Sarks percentage for losing games that way has to be the worst in the country by far. If you are up by 2 TDs in the 3rd you should win >95% of the time.

Rain, when you get a second could you pass me that bottle you must be sipping on! Love the points and hope last week and similar performances are in the rear view mirror. I am just gunshy after Charlie and Tommy Boy.

When Mack lost, the game went to **** from the get go. Sometimes we pulled out of it, sometimes we didn’t. Rarely did we start well and lost, like 1-2 games out of 100.

NR, you’re more upbeat than most of the fans I know, although I agree with most of your points. (BTW, Bret Auburn is ICE. I am so impressed.)

But,

We lost to a team we should have beaten, probably easily. And our biggest issue in 2021 — late game collapses — happened yet again. I absolutely believe that this 22 team is better (probably much better) than what we saw last year. But if the team can’t finish and we continue losing games we should win, it’s tough for me to talk about progress.

I need to see the Ws. Our record this year is worst than it was after 4 games in 21. So for now, I’m in a “show me” mode.

I am genuinely upbeat, and at the same time agree with what you wrote.
This weekend is big.
