Color me impressed with NBC on Thursday night's Olympic coverage. They had a sgment on why people are complaining about China. Went into about Uyghur internment camps and genocide, Hong Kong protest crackdowns, and opaque COVID protocols (mainly for foreigners in the Olympics).
 
Keep the politics out of the tv coverage. Run a special on how awful Red China is separately or something (and they’re pretty awful). Let the games be the games.

What I don't like about the jumping this year is that they don't seem to have cameras in the line of the landing zone. As a result, you don't know for sure if someone got the distance they were needing except by the graphic several seconds later.

What happens when the host nation makes it political with a joint Russian statement and a Uyghur torch bearer? The COVID protocols, which affect all Olympics, certainly can't be ignored.
 
Sports for the most part is politicized. BLM, kneeling, you name it. Why should the Olympics broadcast be immune? I'm only surprised to hear NBC being the one calling out China.
 
I'd be curious to know how the media in the US covered the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. Were they generally favorable or hostile to Nazi Germany? I honestly don't know.
 
And they will keep bringing that idiot on. Seriously, if not for bars, hotels, etc., who would actually sit and watch any of the ESPN talking head shows?

But now I am interested and watching the men's finals in this event
Listening to the interviews of many of our athletes you realize that in addition to their desire for medals most of our athletes want to represent America with pride.
I am seeing it differently, from the B S politics.
You see what most of these athletes sacrificed to represent our country

Sometimes the overwrought moral equivalencies lead to astounding absurdity, but this is where the Jim Crow 2.0 crap leads. If wild hyperbole and sometimes just flagrant horse crap is taken seriously, you're going to see more comparisons like this.

It's a successor to the Trump Era when the same idiots compared immigration detention centers to Nazi labor and death camps. We had to actually explain to these dumbfucks why detaining someone prior to deporting them after a hearing in which it was established that they broke the law is different from someone getting held as slave labor and then being gassed for being Jewish.

Who disappeared when Biden became president though the border situation is worse and immigration facilities are even more overcrowded.

Nobody gave two squirts of piss about the immigrants. It was about partisan politics and nothing else. It's a little like Cindy Sheehan. Democrats pretended to care about her when Bush was in the White House. Once he was gone, she became irrelevant because she wasn't politically useful to them. (In fact, she was a political liablity.)
 
I wouldn’t watch them if they were held in my hometown, so I can’t say I am boycotting. Like I do clothes, electronics and everything else. Fugging commie bastids

Beg to differ. Most of the ones I have known were just mistaken in terms of their ideas about how Christian charity should work and that is hardly deserving of death. The ChiComs are a different kettle

When I was a kid, Walmart used to pride itself on selling American-made products. Hard to imagine that now.

All the Americans on the Chinese hockey team have fake Chinese translated names on their jerseys. They were all Nationalized by China to make it legal for them to play. It looks ridiculous and I hope the USA team is giving them hell. I couldn't imagine growing up in America and putting on a Chinese jersey to play against America. Our youth is lost.
