Okla State game #2 — today 1 pm Central

Horns have woken up and realized this is a steetfight. If they keep this level of intensity up they might win.

Too much dribbling with no clue what to do when you get into trouble. (Is that Shaka Smart on the bench) ?
Okie lite not much better but they do seem to be actually running plays.

Say, we’re moving away from the ball. We may have even done a pick/screen on that last possession.

:fiestanana:

Someone show Timmy that old driveway basketball move of bouncing it off the defenders knee or foot on the inbound pass if you’re getting near 5 seconds. Then there’s the old throw it at his balls real hard trick …:smh:

Yes, playing the the B12 with no really good PG can make you look unsound. I warned about how much we were going to miss Coleman.

We’re generally a good free throw shooting team. That will win us some of these tight dogfights.

This team just doesn't look fundamentally sound. They turned what should have been a coast to the finish into a nail-biter.
^^^Yep. The guards are shooting guards and not point guards. We miss Matt Coleman A LOT. Our new guys will be working hard in practice on breaking full court pressure and corner traps for the rest of the season. Maybe Askew is the answer. He handles the ball well and seems reliable at the FT line.

Fraschilla made the observation and I think he's right: "That's what you look like when you're not getting good PG play." I like a lot about Carr, but he definitely has a lot of that mentality coming from a team where he was the scoring offense. When a defense tightens up, he starts wandering around, driving into traffic and either losing a handle or putting up a bad shot. We don't seem to have a plan for distributing the ball down the stretch, and that's largely about not having a guy who's truly trying to play point.

The fact that we have Tim dribbling up the court on about a third of our possessions bothers me as well. It's one reason his turnover ratio is too high.

Ah well... they fought and got the win, and they really needed that. Nice work!
