League voted to send the team to OKC and the only 2 they voted no was Cuban and Allen. So looks like know it is up to the courts to determine if they have to stay unitl the contract is up or they can shed some dough and get out of it.

Get on down here KD!!!!

I knew when I read the thread title that Cuban was going to be 1 of the 2 "no" votes. I haven't read anything about his opinion on the team leaving Seattle -but I just knew he had to be against whatever the comissioner wanted. what a doosh..

Actually he does have a bigger picture view of the NBA in mind than perhaps the parochial views of some posters on here: The Link

Bennett wanted a team for his hometown so he went out and bought one and now he's preparing to move it.

it's really nothing more than that. Seattle had the misfortune of being the team he was able to buy.

I guess when I'm a billionaire I'll go buy the Lakers and move them to Austin.

build me a 2 billion dollar arena or we are moving to the frank erwin center!

Oh, I do Mack.
Helps in recruiting when we take recruits to the game & they get to yuck it up w/ KD, a superstar from Texas that's making it huge while playing in Oklahoma.
Helps in football when they see a mega-successful former Texas player who will not say a bad thing about Oklahoma & are glad handing it w/ Stoops & co.
Helps in all around recruiting & national appeal when KD is making commercials broadcasted throughout our region.
(already rumored to have one w/ Switzer, Stoops, Toby Keith, & Brad Henry welcoming him to OKC)
Yeah, having a big league team w/ the superstar being from Texas is a big deal all the way around in college sports.
What's even better, the way the draft sets up for the next 5 years & the way Barnes has it rolling w/ potential lotto picks, I would bet KD will not be the only Texas player making it large in OKC.
Freggin' love it myself.
There's no negative in seeing a Texas player being great in Oklahoma for an OU fan.

You're forgetting that the OKC NBA team could also be a negative. The Sooners will not always be front page news anymore especially during the NBA season.

Enjoy the fleecing. In another 10 years or so, Bennett will want another stadium or he'll sell the team and the new guy will be your Bennett. I'd bet the NBA wont be in OKC in 20 years.

Not to mention it's only 50/50 Durant stays in Oklahoma freaking City once his rookie contract is up after 2-3 more years.

Hell, if the City of Seattle sticks to their position and forces the team to stay lame duck in Seattle for two more years (the legal system is on their side - the question is if they take the buyout money) it's possible Durant would only be in OKC for one year. Assuming, of course, the team picks up the option on his 3rd and 4th years.

Seattle voted down a stadium 3 times yet they built new stadiums for the Mariners and the Seahawks. Schultz wanted to sell the team. Steve Balmer didn't want to buy it then. Now, they're both claiming they want to buy it back.

What again makes people think Seattle wanted an NBA team?

KD will be in OKC as long as he is a good player.
As far as forcing the OKC team to stay in Seattle, do you really think Seattle would force a team to stay and them (Seattle) lose money vs. letting a team leave but have not only the lease but the building paid off as well?
All the law suit stuff is business 101.
Everyone wants to apply as much pressure as possible just to get the $$$'s up & that's what's happening here.
Simply a negotiation ploy that will get Seattle extra revenue upon OKC leaving town.
Another thing that is a given & Stern has already said it, if Seattle is hell bent on keeping a lame duck team in a place that already had no support & hasn't for almost a decade then they can kiss another franchise goodbye as long as he's there.

And this does nothing to help the rep of OKC as a natl city, let's be clear on that. Seattle is still an awesome city even w/o the Sonics.

Regarding Key Arena, isn't it only 20 years old? I mean come on.

The okc owner just wants to be a hero the the redencks in OKC. I'd bet KC is honestly a way better option asfar as demographics or when looking at the whole package.

Would you call Jacksonville a big league city? It's got an nfl franchise, but I'm not dying to visit that city. I'm sure people are dying to visit okc. Seattle, you are not, and you never will be.
