Okafor to Texas

We beat out some good competition for this one. LSU, Auburn, OU, Nebraska, Stanford, Boston College, Minnesota among others had already offered.

Man, I heard a live radio interview with that kid on one of the local AM sports stations (1530 maybe) on the way home yesterday, and we are lucky to have him. He sounds very bright and was surprisingly articulate, for a high school kid. (you know what I mean)

Welcome to 40 Acres, Alex!

I was up late last night doing some stuff and there was a replay of the Pflugerville v Katy Championship game. i watched the first half and it got my blood pumpin for some football. Anyways, there was a period late in the first half where Okafor just could not be stopped. The announcers were gushing over him, saying things like, "They're double-teaming him, and holding him, and he can't be stopped!" And Katy's line was no slouch. Not to mention all of the other top competition that couldn't stop Okafor last year (Leander, Dallas Carter, Klein Forest, Longview, Abiline, etc...) 5ATexasfootball.com ranks Pflugerville as having the 2 D-Line in the state behind only Lufkin. Now if only we could get one of those Lufkin guys to commit, oh, I dunno, maybe a DT or something...... Anyways, the whole point of this post is that I'm super pumped about football being around the corner, and this '09 class has the chance to really be something special.

Also, do any of you Austin-area folks plan on going to see Okafor this year? I already have plans to attend the Pflugerville v Westlake game, and I may go see Austin High to see Emory Blake, and maybe the Bowie or Leander (do they have any prospects?) games. Also, what would be a good game to go check out Garrett Gilbert? Thanks.
