Tex will beat Minny. Minny is not playing well right now.

Tex won't beat Duke however. Two and punt.
 
Did anybody see Digger Phelps throw a little non-verbal hissy fit on ESPN just now? It looked like he thought he wasn't on camera, and he was pointing angrily at someone off stage about an argument he and Vitale had just had.
 
It's hard to imagine a better draw considering how we've played. Given that we were going to be somewhere between 7 and 10, we were going to be facing a 1 or 2 seed in the second round. Would you honestly rather be up against one of the 1 seeds or Memphis or UConn instead of Duke?? And that's not to mention the gift they gave us with Minnesota. Drawing somebody off of the trash heap in the middle of the Big 10 is as good as you could do as a 7-10 seed.

I'm shocked they had us rated ahead of LSU and Butler, who are the 8-9 matchup across from UNC, also playing in Greensboro. We could easily have been switched with either of those teams. You think Duke is a bad second round draw? At least we have the athletes and the size to hang with Duke if they don't shoot 3's well. UNC would completely destroy us.
 
Barnes will probably enjoy taking the players to Greensboro and letting them feel the energy of that particularf basketball country. The atmosphere for the game should be high with Duke being there. This will be good for the players coming back next season.

I've had the ESPN coverage going, and except for a few minutes away from the tube when I may have missed something, Texas has not been mentioned. We're a non-story far as I can tell (far as the talking heads are concerned). So far.
 
You gotta think that a lot of the UNC fans in that place will be rooting for us against duke. I think it'll be an intense atmosphere, especially if we can keep it close. I dunno, I kinda think our athletecism will give them problems. Our problem will the guarding the 3 point line. If we can prevent them from lighting us up from long distance I think we have a chance at taking this one.
 
A lot of NC fans? I would venture 99.9% on average. We don't have a basketball rivalry close to the Duke v. NC one. Think along the lines of Texas v. OU in footbal. There will be tons of support for UT in that building if NC fans have their way and if Texas appears to have a chance to ruin Dookie's chances.
 
Minnesota is awfully long and does have some shooters. Texas can beat them, but it will be a tight game that comes down to free throws. If we do find a way past Minnesota, Texas has nothing but Big Dex for Duke. And with Coach K hissing at the referees, Big Dex will get two offensive fouls on flops in the first 8 minutes. Get real people.......... This year feels a lot like the Nevada 8/9 game in 2005. I think I'll mark down a one and done. Arizona got a much better draw as a 12 seed!
 
Yall can beat MINN. And honestly Duke is really inconsistent. I know the horns are inconsistent too at times, shoot everybody was this year. We will play probably Clemson in round 2, which is no cake walk. At this point I’m cheering for all big 12 teams. Did anybody look at the run Kansas has to make?? WOW
 
Our seeding is about right, and about as predicted for our record this year. We were going to run into a good team soon wherever we were sent. If the seven seed wins, they play the #2 seed if they win. That's just the way it is, we weren't going to run into an unknown after one game.
And we could have gotten a rougher first game opponent, not that it is automatic that we win against the Gophers.
I didn't think about NC fans filling the arena, and the underdog always gets the fan support as it is. With hated Duke out there, it will really seem like a home court advantage, if UT can stay close, or get a lead. It'll be fun to watch.
 
I'm just happy Michigan and Texas are not playing in the first round. When I saw Texas pop up as a 7...I was almost sure they were about to show Michigan as the opponent. Seeding was right, but luckily it was the last region!

There is absolutely no reason for this team to lose to Minnesota. One of the interesting matchups will be seeing Big Dex face off against Ralph Sampsons son.
 
I can't imagine making ANY predictions about this unusual team we've got this year.
