offers left for 2010

In your earlier question to me, I thought you were asking about recruits who had a formal offer that could be accepted. I am sure the staff has had discussions with a number of players about their chances of eventually receiving an offer and under what circumstances that would happen.

I don't know what you mean by assurances but I suspect the staff is very candid with recruits about whether they will eventually be offered. I would be surprised if the coaches make misleading statements to keep a second tier prospect on the hook and from committing elsewhere, if they know the chances of that recruit being offered are unlikely.

I dont see us taking any more than one WR unless Cobbs is a last minute decision.

One thing you learn over the years in following football recruiting. The 25 limit number means nothing if a super blue kid decides to come late. They will make room. The gomers always did it when they used to have a good program and everybody would always cry "not fair", but they got them anyway. Of course, now we know the rest of the story on some of their illegal incentives. But now we just happen to be the top program that every kid in the state wants to be a part of, just enjoy it and don't worry about the numbers at this stage.

Im a little more confused about something else but its related.

I was under the impression based on what I had read that Mack never takes away a scholarship, not even when the kids get injured. He said that himself in an interview i saw at some point. He said something like even if the kid gets injured and cant play football anymore, we keep their scholarship so that they are able to get a degree from the university and not have to worry about paying for school and stuff.

am i incorrect or have things just changed? one of the things that texas does well is keep their promises to students and not go back on their word...

I think in that instance, they get moved off of the 'football' scholarship and moved on a 'medical' scholarship, thus not counting against the 85 man number.

The name escapes me, but the O-Lineman from Westlake with the heart condition counted against our numbers for one year, and then got moved off (if I remember correctly).

To the best of my knowledge, (and granted, as I get older, I've noticed the memory is the first thing to go.) Mack hasn't pulled any scholarship offers to any high school players that have been injured. He has given some players with a scholarship offer a deadline to decide, on a case-by-case basis, which is only prudent. However, I don't recall any super blue chip recruits getting an ultimatum. (But I could be wrong...I've slept since then.)

The scholarships will come from graduates and transfers, not pulled scholarships. That is not Mack's style. I did hear that the mighty coach Jones pulled that crap some some of his SMU players.
