Obama's SC Victory Speech

Holy Crap. That guy is like nothing I've ever seen. He totally nailed it in substance and style.

Now Edwards is speaking and it sounds just awful by comparison.

The best line:

"We are up against conventional thinking that says your ability to lead as president comes from longevity in Washington or proximity to the White House. But we know that real leadership is about candor, and judgment, and the ability to rally Americans from all walks of life around a common purpose — a higher purpose."

While I'm a life long democrat, most of my friends are republicans. I've never heard my friends speak so well of a democrat as they have Obama. All the emails I received after the Iowa speech were very positive.

Several that I discuss politics with frequently say they could and may vote for Obama. None said they would vote for Hillary.

He's a good orator but it's mostly generic hope/dream stuff. I did really like that line about being up against a campaign that thinks you can't say that a Republican had an idea even if it's an idea you don't agree with. His message about Clinton tactics will resonate with Dems who are tired of alienating Republicans out of spite or for sport. It will be interesting to see how many of those Dems there are.

He'll make a great VP candidate.....

I will definitely cross party lines and vote democratic if and only if Obama wins the nomination. Clinton winning will definitely encourage me to vote straight ticket republican as usual.

List the things that Obama advocated in his speech which Bush, for example, would say he does not favor.

- Change - Has there ever been a candidate who opposed change?

- A better tomorrow

- The future instead of the past

- A nation for all Americans

- Don't rely on lobbyists

You can list dozens and every candidate since Moby Dick was a minnow would say they favored every stinking one.

Don't forget my two favorite!!

1) FOR Education

2) AGAINST Crime

I only vote for politicians with these two things in their platform.

Obama has my vote. can you jokers tell us why Hillary or the other trash out there is somehow better than what Obama offers and why we should vote for them? thx, kai bi

TH,

show me a president who campaigned on many (or even a few) specific policy positions or proposals, and I'll show you a presidency that failed to do most of what it said it would do.

Campaigns should be about character, first and foremost, because no one can predict the major challenges presidents will face. Obama may leave a lot of policy in the dark, but that's because he knows his policies will be coalitional, centrist, bipartisan and therefore they won't make anyone truly happy.

I have similar feelings about McCain, though obviously he will represent the center-right, whereas Obama the center-left. That is why I still pray for those two to be the nominees. If they are, I might just flip a coin on election day.

And why would it? This seemed like a friendly thread.

I'll **** on your thoughts some other time, if it makes you happy.

Obama does what Reagan was so good at -- making ALL of us proud to be Americans. His ascendency epitomizes the American dream. His presidency would prove to ourselves that we can overcome, that we are a good people, that every four years in America there is potential for Revolution.

For the first time in my life, there is a leader who filled my eyes with tears, and knotted my throat. We have our Bobby Kennedy, our John Kennedy. And Republicans have the Ronald Reagan.

I honestly believe that his race is integral, but not in a bad way. He embodies that in America, the past must ALWAYS give way to the hope of the future. That as great as we were, our best days lie ahead. America's greatness lives on, because of its ability to change.

i will be truly heartbroken, if he is not the nominee of my party, and Hilary/Bill Clinton are.

Was anybody else distracted from the kid in the yellow GW hoodie. Dude was just freaking out that he saw himself on his cellphone.
