Obama's Downtown Rally

Considering the situation we're in now, I'll never understand the people that trust corporations more than the government. Do you really think you'll be ****** over more than you are now if the government was in charge of health care?

Here's a little slice of government (kind of) healthcare. A few weeks ago, my oldest daughter had a wicked cough and green snot was coming out of her nose. She was sick. And it was getting worse everyday despite using over the counter medicines. My wife (for her own reasons, which I support) does not like to treat our kiddos.

So I call Tricare (military medicine) to get an appointment with her provider. The next available slot was 7 weeks out. Their suggestion was to take her to the emergency room or keep calling back each day at 7:00 am and 1:00 pm to see if there were any cancellations. Yeah, that's a productive use of of the ER, my time and the call screener. I bitched about it and got transferred to the triage nurse. She put me on a referral list out to a local urgent care center for that afternoon. Now, if I had not raised a stink, I might have ended up in the ER because the system is too overloaded.

I have no reason to believe that government run health care would be any different.

It wouldn't be Mac. It's like that in Canada and Great Britain, just stupid long waiting lines and substandard care. I don't doubt Hillbilly and Obama and the like mean well, but their good intentions are simply going to **** over the vast majority of people in this country in terms of the quality of care provided as well as the timeliness of said crappy care.

BO: So what is your ******* point? Yes, I did in fact for GWB in 2000 and 2004. Does that mean that I lost my right to ask for some measure of fiscal responsibility?!? I

I was 100% behind Bush in 2000. In thought he was a great governorI and believed he would make a strong president. I did have trepidation about for voting for GWB in 04. I weighed the options, and I held out hope that Governor George W. Bush would return in a second term. I also supported his push for privatization accounts (something I continue to support). I was most concerned about his rampant spending habits. However, when I weighed that concern against a Massachusetts senator, I decided that GWB was better than the alternative. If the Dems had the good sense to run a legitimate centrist in 04, not only would have probably received my vote... but he/she would running for re-election right now. Regardless, GWB's second term has been a massive disappointment. Quite frankly, one of the worst terms ever by a US president. He has managed to pretty much piss off conservatives and liberals. Quite a feat. That being said, I think that true conservatives are now just as happy as you that his term is almost over.

Mac - your protest vote suggestion is duly noted. Perhaps that was a valid option, but I have never voted third party, maybe I should consider it.

I think we know what we're going to get - out of Iraq, tax, spend and GW legislation (maybe some reparations thrown in for good meaure).

I'm not that concerned. The crowds of worshipers won't show up at the polls, frankly, half of them are probably too stupid to realize they have to actually register to vote to begin with. The other half will go to the wrong polling location and go home believing they've been disenfranchised.

"Obama's tax and tax some more policies"

What the ****'s wrong with you people? Bush took office with a republican house and senate, basically no deficit and in only seven years ran up a $9 trillion deficit.

I don't think we can afford any more ******* conservative fiscal irresponsibility.

Thanks Drunkenmic for responding to that one. I was going to but was having a hard time finding the right angle. Nicely done.
