There was a neighbor millennial at the Thanksgiving party we attended (with beard and all that). He ripped into Obamacare. Had wife and small child. Said he could get better care at much cheaper price through friends who were in the medical industry.I'm actually going to be dealing with this for the first time this year - I got laid off in September, and had chosen not to get insurance through the rest of the year because I knew I couldn't afford to spend money until my employment situation was under control (and the COBRA prices were insane... well over $1,000 per month). I was relieved to learn that at least they only charge you the pro-rated fee for the months you aren't covered, so basically I will owe for three months' lack of coverage. But because I'll likely be doing contract consultancy in 2017, I'll be looking for health care options pretty soon (unless the GOP really quickly!)
I haven't looked into the Texas Exes healthcare plan - does anyone use that?
Just WOW! This is important so please read this. Has anybody else been hit with the price hike of obamacare yet? Here is our situation and I bet most here doesn't even know about this yet. My wife is a financial advisor and she just left a company to go independent. She got a great pay hike but now she is responsible for paying for everything on her own. That shouldn't a big deal right with her nice pay raise? That includes her own insurance. So we had to go look for plans for our family that includes all of us. You by law now have to buy into obamacare or you will have to pay a penalty. If you go buy your own insurance and it's not obamacares hmo program then you will be paying a fine to the government. That fine is not the same for everyone. The more money you make the higher the fine is. So that pay raise is actually going to hurt us. Right now this new law will force you to pay around $900 per family member per year at a minimum (not 100% sure if that its the same for dependents) or you pay 2% of your gross annual salary.... Which ever one is higher. In our case were paying thousands of dollars in penalties if we go get our own insurance. So now we will go buy a crappy plan in obamacare and get this, we will be paying $325 more a month for that crappy insurance than what we were currently paying with a better insurance. It is believe that it will be changed once Trump is in office but that could take until 2018. You guys know what I went through the last time I was on the crappy obamacare stuff with my throat surgery. I ended up paying high premiums and still had to pay out o0f my pocket with none going toward my deductible. I'm now forced again. This is all just sickening. This isn't even American. Trump can't get started soon enough.

I think we are at peak beard.Lol! Are all millennials starting to go for the lumberjack look?

I kinda wonder if chicks actually dig this look.

Totes. You have to do it
(Then show us a pic)
The numbers are in. We're now paying $1469.00 monthly for Obamacare. We lost our vision and dental coverage from our plan before. We looked up what we were paying in 2007. $521. You want reasons why Trump won? Here's one right here.
Auto accident (hit from behind), lower back issues...I have now had a set of x-rays, an MRI AND six days of treatment PLUS a referral to a 'pain management clinic' that came with three prescriptions. Because all three locations ditched participation in obummercare plans, they offer cash prices. My total thus far is barely $1,250.00. The initial appointment with the PMC and the prescriptions represent almost half of my outlay in these past two weeks.
True enough...and one way or another, all of my expenses would be covered once the claim is resolved by the carrier for the agency that hit me.In Texas, it's usually not a good idea to use health insurance to cover your medical expenses due to an auto accident anyway. You end up getting hosed on both ends.

However, my point was that I am actually spending LESS by NOT having insurance than I would have been if I DID have one of the policies pushed by the POSPotUS.
