Obamacare

Vol Horn 4 Life

Good Bye To All The Rest!
This is gonna be so great for our country!! They will have healthcare, but won't have a job.

Applebees

We’ve calculated it will <cost> some millions of dollars across our system. So what does that say – that says we won’t build more restaurants. We won’t hire more people. If you have 40 or 50 employees at a restaurant, and the penalty is $2,000, and you’re going to pay $80,000 or $100,000 penalty, there goes the profit in your restaurant. I want to simply say we are looking at it, we are evaluating. If it’s possible to do without cutting people back, I am delighted to do it, but that also rolls back expansion, it rolls back hiring more people, and in a best-case scenario, we only shrink the labor force minimally. Best case.

Any employer who has 50 or more employees must provide federal government-approved health care for its employees under President Obama's Obamacare or pay a $2,000 fine. Currently, Applebees employs 80 to 300 persons per restaurant.

Despite Tankel’s openness and honesty regarding the future of his company in an Obamacare world, he is being criticized for speaking the truth regarding the financial impact of President Barack Obama’s reelection and even threatened with a boycott via social media for speaking out.

Dennys

Obviously, I’d love to cover all our employees under that insurance. But to pay $5,000 per employee would cost us $175,000 per restaurant and unfortunately, most of our restaurants don’t make $175,000 a year. I can’t afford it.

CPF, it's the plan and goal.

BI, the dem plan is working like a charm except I expect 47% to be 65% in less than two years. You'll have a new number to quote.

obamacare will lead to physically and psychologically healthy people who will live out there lives to serve their communities because hate no longer eats at them as they no longer internalize social mores which inevitably creates self-alienation. it has already shown conservatives to be wildly self-alienated after the crowd that deemed itself the silent majority or law and order crowd boisteriously obstructed congressional town hall meetings when the country first debated obamacare. most important, people will truly have the opportunity to become productive when they subvert work as the central organizing principle of life where they simply slave away at a meaningless and unfulfilling jobs because conservatives wrongly think that this will somehow foster character development.

There goes Hostess and 18,000 jobs

Blamed unions and "other expected higher costs".

Yep, this country is getting better and better every day since Obama won re-election. Oh well, he said indirectly over and over that big business is evil. The only thing better must be no business at all.

Oh well, now we must have 18,000 more democrats. Oh wait, we now have 18,000 more formerly unionized democrats without a job. BI, that was for you!

Roq, not that it will make whatever you were saying make sense, but there is a key on your keyboard that allows you to start sentences with capital letter.

The Papa Johns clown is now throwing a tantrum but he has no problem with this:

Providing healthcare for his workers is not possible, but he'll give 2 million free pizzas. What an asshat!
wtf.gif

R35, you think giving away free food to two million people is a bad idea?

Dude, really, think before you post stupid **** like this!

Tell us about the business you started Roger. You know, the one you put your life savings into, worked 70-80 hour weeks for nothing, and employed hundreds if not thousands of people. The one you will happily give away to those who have not taken the risk and the federal government who works harder each day to put you out of business than your competitors.

If you cannot, STFU.

Unfortunately, ii, I doubt that regardless of how pathetically stupid he sounds, he will not have the sense to STFU. Fools are kinda like that.

I am confused. Are you saying that a one time giveaway of 2 million pizzas that also advertises your company is more expensive than giving thousands of employees healthcare? what's your argument here?

I have spent a long career in healthcare and currently meet with medical executives, physicians, nurses and medical device entrepreneurs on a daily basis. The first waves of this tsunami are just rolling in.

R35 is just warming up by posting that inanity.
He/she doesn't get rolling until he/she blames Bush.
wait for it

Free food is never a bad idea, but if a company is complaining about costs, what are they doing giving away free food?

Now THAT, is stupid.

R35?
link for showing it would cost 8 mil for PapaJohns to provide health care? is that for 1 year?

do you think a pizza company does not need to advertise?

R35
Even though you bolded this I so hope even You know this is BS
"like not giving away 2 million pizzas for free at a cost of between $24 and $32 million to the company, for example.'

Roger,

Two things. First, there's no way it costs $24M - $32M for Papa Johns to give away two million pizzas. If it did, the company would have folded years ago. That's $12 - $16 per pizza. You can buy a pizza from them for less than that.

Second, when companies give stuff away, they benefit by scoring a ton of free advertising by word of mouth and by people ordering more than just the free pizzas. When they pay money out due to their employees' healthcare, they don't receive benefit from that. The money is just gone. That's why a company might have the money to give away something for free but not enough to buy its employees medical insurance.

Papa John's sells franchises. Franchises are owned by small business owners. His advertising helps his franchisees sell pizzas.

So let's say I have to pay $500,000 for a franchise. There is no guarantee I make money. Without national advertising, I definitely make less.

Now, how much do I make on that $500,000 out of pocket? Let's say I get a first year return of 20% or $100,000. Let's say I need to insure 5 people have an average of $14,000 per year. That means I pay $70,000 or my net income is $30,000. I probably work 56-60 hours per week. So, I make $9.61 per hour.

Would you risk $500,000 for a 7 day a week job that pays $9.61 per hour. As stupid as you are, never mind. If you want a job with insurance, develop skills that are in demand. Being a pizza delivery guy or a cook is normally the result of bad decisions, not bad luck.
