'Not worth seeing in theater, but worth renting'

it is very simple for me. i go to see one or two movies a month at the theater, for many reasons including time, money, general willingness to go the theater.

so i try to choose those movies wisely. many of them i will watch when they come out on DVD or play on a movie channel, but they are in no way interesting enough for me to go see at the theater.

there is not much logic involved other than determining what type of movie i prefer to see at the theater.

I can make the distinction. For us:
A theater movie is one that either we can take the kids to AND both the wife and I want to see (i.e. Kung Fu Panda, Narnia, Pixar movies), or both the wife and I want to see and are "worth" getting a sitter for at $25--30. Movies that are more for the "story" dont qualify. If its the story, plus big time special effects, that falls into the theater group.

If we're just so-so, we get on DVD. For example, we got Vantage Point yesterday, and I pretty much half-watched and loaded up my new Zune. My wife goes to bed early, so we saved the second half for tonight.
