Nonpartisan elections are discriminatory??

You mistake "parsing words" for concepts and principles. You are outright incorrect here. I've shown you why but you still refuse to see the light. Why? Because it doesn't fit within your pre-formed political view of the world? Cognitive dissonance much?

I don't want this to become a lecture on logic but an intelligent argument is difficult if you can't get this. Which probably explains why this is not an intelligent argument....

Try making an intelligent argument for once instead of playing amateur college professor. Your argument in this thread has been meaningless, that's why you keep rolling out 'pre judgement', 'preconceived' and 'pre formed'..flopping around trying to B.S. your way through. That's why you had to backtrack/edit. But by all means keep trying to lecture on what an intelligent argument is. You might learn something.

My edits were to correct typos/mispellings.

You don't grasp the kernel here, brotha, and that's fine. I'm not going to blame some out of shape guy for not being able to run a 6 minute mile, and I'm not going to blame you for not following along here. If you want to engage in an intellectual tennis match and hit it back and forth you need to follow some basic rules of logic and reasoning.

*** edit to correct the spelling of kernel . just to keep brotha honest ****

I'll readily admit that I didn't read the decision. Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act is some of the dumbest law in American jurisprudence, and I'm just not willing to waste the time to read a lengthy decision that discusses it.

However, I wonder what would happen if Texas wanted to go to a nonpartisan system for electing judges. That would weaken blacks' ability to blindly vote Democratic (if you buy Holder's argument), but it would undoubtedly improve a Democratic candidate's chance of winning the election because voters who vote straight-ticket Republican (who make up most of the Texas voting population) would unknowingly vote Democratic. I wonder what these guys would do in that situation.

I think Section 5 needs to be done away with. It exists now only to be used a tool to further political ends, not bring about fairness or justice.

This issue is not about voting fraud, this is about non partisan elections.

I don't know about other cities but Dallas city election ballots do not show party designations and blacks have found dems and or black candidates just fine. maybe blacks in dallas are smarter than blacks in other states. it is not an issue here

On voting fraud, how would we know if it existed? without any photo ID how would we know the person voting was not the person registered? people who use the argument that there aren't many cases of coter fraud so it must not be a problem are either stupid or think others are.
Voting is a privilege. the very least a voter can do is prove they are and that they have the privilege of voting.

but again this is a separate issue from non partisan ballots.
