No Office thread yet???

The Office is my favorite show on television.

BUT, I really don't like the direction the show is going. Not only was this episode dark and emotionally difficult, but it sets us up for more of the same to come.

Sure there were a few good lines... but there were more instances where I just felt horrible. The baby talk. The yelling. I just don't dig it.

I absolutely loved it. Probably a top 2 or 3 episode.

I loved the original office and the earliest episodes of the US office. I am curious - are the other people that loved this also fans of more vintage Office episodes? And are the people that disliked the episosde people who have grown to like the series more lately?

I ask because the unconfortable-meter has not been that high since the older episodes, IMHO.

Yeah--if you were uncomfortable with this episode, I can only imagine what you thought of Michael at Phyllis' wedding, or the Christmas episode where they were exchanging white elephant gifts and Michael totally destroyed Phyllis and her handmade gift.

I actually like the older episodes more than the newer ones. I agree with Stuck At Work in that I don't like dark emotional route the show is taking. Hopefully its just a one week occurance, because I love this show.

i'm one that didn't like the episode and it has nothing at all to do with being uncomfortable with the humor.
to me, the best episodes are a little more subtle. i like the way jim and stanley react to something stupid that michael says or does. when everyone and everything is out of control i have a hard time laughing along with the more "normal" characters. the over-the-top acting/behavior is annoying, imo.

"it's a three bedroom: their bedroom, jan's workplace, and jan's studio."

I wouldn't even call it "their bedroom". Jan go the bed. Michael got the bench

How about the exchange regarding having a baby? Michael clearly wants to have children and Jan just toys with his emotions. It wasn't funny... it was sad.

I'll admit, sometimes The Office does a good job of making a sad event funny in a way... but not this time.

Let's just wait and see what happens in the shows to come.

I enjoyed it and I thought it was funny. I loved the way that Jan and Michael used such terms of endearment -- babe -- with absolute venom fueling the words. You know they hate each other's guts but cannot figure out a way to end the relationship. And that's funny stuff to me.
