The ignorance on here is incredible. A few points:
"Stashing money in the Caymans, like Mittens" - How did they know he had money in the Caymans? It was shown in the tax returns he filed! He paid taxes on anything he earned on that money (if he had earnings that were realized that tax year)! Putting in the Caymans or other offshore account doesn't shelter it from taxes.
"I think they (Republicans) only oppose them (tax increases on the wealthy) because it impacts their contributors, but the point is that they truly do oppose them." I can't speak for all Republicans, corservatives, or Tea Partiers, but all of them I know oppose such cuts because they understand that 1. They will raise little money, 2. Will have a detrimental impact on the economy, and 3. They are patently unfair. A minority of those that I know would be personally impacted by those increases, but they still oppose them for these reasons and also maybe because most of them aspire to earn those kinds of incomes someday.
"Third, when the voters put the final nail into the GOP in 2014..." This one is just opinion, but I expect the GOP to do just fine in 2014. Without Obama on the ticket to pull in all the marginal voters, that election is likely to look more like 2010 than either 2012 or 2008. GOP will certainly hold onto the |House, and with a large number of Democrat seats in the Senate up for reelection (those that they captured in the 2008 surge), Republicans have a reasonable shot at taking back the Senate. A lot will happen before that election so definitely too soon to make any kind of prediction, but it definitely looks at least as favorable for the GOP as for the Dems.
