Nice win last night, but . . .

When did we become such a trash-talking team? I get all the chirping we did against aTm in the Regionals - they brought that on with the demonstrative Horns-down gesture when they won the night before. But unless I missed something, I didn't see UCI do anything classless. It looked like Dillon Peters was taunting them and firing off some F-bombs as we ran onto the field to celebrate.

Anybody see what I'm talking about, or know something that instigated that type of reaction?

When UCI won on Wed night, I thought that they were less than gracious. I can remember the specifics, but I actually remember saying to myself "they should act like they've been there before"

The Eaters immature girls softball dugout dance after a score must have gotten under a few of our players' skin.

Congrats to UC Irvine on a great team and a great year. Every school that makes it to Omaha, especially squads that notch a CWS win, should be proud.

This is the first time we have beaten these guys. Irvine knocked us out of our regional at the Dell Diamond. I'm sure our team was reminded of that

Two big differences in the smack we may have talked (I didn't see) and that of Aggy...

1) We didn't attack all that they stand for by some way spitting on UCI as a program and University.

2) We may have done it in a game where there was no way we'd play them again in this tourney, or for another year at best.

If I see/hear some 'Vanderbilt sucks' on Friday coming from our players, I'll be greatly bothered. Other than that, get pumped up, talk some smack, whatever it takes to be fired up and locked in the game within reason. And if you happen to drop a few "F bombs" towards a team you knocked out with a history of some animosity. So be it.

IMHO, it was def in response to the excessive explosion of celebration UCI displayed during first game. I know that pissed me off as I thought it was mocking some. And I fully support reasonable celebration for solid play during games.

noticed a couple of Eaters of Ants doing horns down directed at players.....that has become such a 'rich national tradition'

I thought he was looking at the pitcher and catcher as well (or was hoping he was), but after a couple of replays, pretty sure I could tell he was yelling "go the f*** home" or something to that effect. Was wondering what would have him so fired up, but I didn't get to see the first game and what the Eaters may have done in that one.

The Anteaters do have a hand sign that looks a lot like ours, they may have been doing that. Its hard to describe, Index and pinky are up while the middle and ring finger are down touching the thumb

Our smack talkers consists mainly of Peters and French and they have been at it for the last two years in a big way.

Sometimes they get out of hand with the cursing, but hey they learned from the best in Augie who can make a sailor blush with those post game talks that have become famous.

Doesn't bother me that much, but with the way college baseball has tried to be non-confrontational and look good for television I am suprised they haven't told umps to crack down on it.

When I say that I mean the no collisions or hard slides rule and the ban of tobacco products. I don't know if Dennis Cook could have played without a dip. He used to call time while batting and go reload. He did that once on national television.

Some of you need to take in the final play when Texas beat Ole Miss in that second game in 2005. J. Brent Cox's f-bomb is quite noticeable.
