I agree that Mack needs to hold some ships.

IMHO they should hold them for;
1. Darius White
2. Wilson or Jeffcoat (which ever commits first)
3. Lache Seastrunk
 
im a little confused. i see 4 WR have already been recruited. why are people guessing darius white will committ? i mean do we have such a need at WR? no matter how good he is, the available scholarships has to play a role that mack has to account for. am i missing something?
 
It's a banner year for the crop of WR. Terrell is prob moving to TE, Apo might be going on a mormon mission before his frosh year, so another year away from joining the year. White fits just nicely.

Agree w other posters, u always take a top talent if he comes here, the numbers will work out. 23-25 is not a big deal, not like we're being Ole miss here and taking 38.
 
Just got a phone call from a buddy who watched Darius Terrell and Desoto win the state championship yesterday. He said that Darius is "a special athlete, indeed."


Can't wait to see this kid in burnt orange!
 
It has been reported several times the Apo will not be going on a mission. He could always change his mind after he turns 19, but for now he says he is not going.
 
How come Darius Terrell doesn't have his own thread? Seems like a very significant pick-up.

hey whatever happened to kurt killens? he seemed to get a lot of attention from recruiting sites, and no one has really mentioned him?...does anyone know what happened?
 
You want a wishlist:
I see where four players may be the best in the nation at their positions, and it would be great to sign all four. Sounds like we will get one, maybe the second, who knows about the others.

Reggie Wilson-best speed de in nation
Darius White-best receiver in nation
Lache Seastrunk-best running back in nation
Jordan Jeffcoat-best power de in nation

Hicks and Cobbs are keepers too.
 
How do you know that we have 23 available? We may go to 25-28. I think we take everyone on that list if they say they want to come!

i say wilson is next but i heard tcu is recruiting him hard.
i believe we have a shot at getting darius white . then save the other ships for either hicks, matthews or jeffcoat
 
Besides the other 9 mentioned there is a tenth one that has an offer and that is DT Torrea Peterson of San Antonio. What do you all think of our chances of getting him?
 
My prediction: #21 = Reggie Wilson. Then we'll be done at DE, because we already have Okafor coming in this fall. . . .
We've already got 20 commits, so Wilson would be 21. Mack has maybe 23 scholarships available, and with Okafor already in the '09 class, he has greater needs at other positions besides DE (like OL & RB). That's why I "would think that."

I certainly hope that is not what the staff is thinking. Turning down Jeffcoat if he wanted to commit would make absolutely no sense regardless of who else commits or who is already on campus.
 
Anyone who thinks we'd take a pass on Jeffcoat if he wanted to commit, under any circumstances, needs to take remedial recruitnik training.
 
All of those top guys will have offers on the board for a while. These kids haven't signed anything yet. Although, we are used to getting guys early and keeping them, it is possible if a top guy signs on that one of the lesser recruits will defect. The numbers will all work themselves out enough, that I highly doubt we start pulling back offers to the top guys until at least like November.

The coaching staff could always take an extra recruit and then talk one of our extra kickers to quit the team or kick a kid off for grades, etc.
