New England's cheating cost some kid millions..

So looking at the mock drafts, the 31st pick is being forfeited by NE..meaning there is one less first round pick. So theoretically, the first pick of the 2nd round could've been the last pick in the first round..and gotten paid more money.

One less player is going to make first round money because of their cheating.

I hate them.

wah...get off it. so one less kid is spared 2 years without playing a game and getting cut in pre-season after they dont pan out. we all know the Pats wait for the 4th round to make serious decisions

Both responses are off. There is quite a difference in 1st rnd pay, and second rnd pay. The player that would have been drafted in the 1st rnd now gets drafted in rnd 2, taking quite a hit in the wallet.

Ive seen lawsuits over less.....

I didn't think it would happen so soon on this board, but the Patriots have surpassed USC as the inspiration for whiny posts that create things to ***** about out of thin air.

If you actually dont think that players agent will argue this and use it to get his client more money, you are naive. Maybe he wont get it all, but I bet it is more in line with the last pick of the first round (last year) than the 1st of the second.

So the Patriots have your panties in a wad over the amount of $ some draftee is going to get in a signing bonus? Really?

I don't have the numbers, but I doubt you'd see a big difference between the contracts of the 32nd and 33rd selections in last year's draft. In the NBA, there's a big difference because each first round pick is assigned a guaranteed minimum contract. Second round NBA picks are on their own. This is not the case in the NFL. There's a big difference in the first round average vs the second round average, but not between the individual picks. As I said, I haven't seen the numbers. Somebody may be able to prove me wrong.

Gosh, that's horrible. Should we take up a collection to buy some canned goods and warm socks for the unfortunate victim?

The way I see it, it only saves one poor guy the infamy of being picked last. So instead he'll get a free agent contract, and the poor bastard ahead of him will be last.
