Nebraska Game 2

Another struggle to score runs for Texas and Nebraska.

Texas scratches out a couple of runs in six innings
against the Husker starter DeLeon and led 2-0.

Peters threw well for Texas giving up one unearned
run in six innings. Then a parade of Texas relievers followed
and gave up the tying run.

The Nebraska pen which isn't good gave the lead
back on four walks in the 7th as Texas took a 3-2 lead.

The Texas pen gave up the lead as Cox walked
the lead off batter in the 8th. Then Urban came
in and gave up a single and a SF to tie it up at
3 runs apiece. Boardman comes in to get the
Horns out of the inning.

In the bottom of the 8th now tied at 3.

Texas puts runners on first and second with one out,
but don't score.

On to the 9th tied at 3.

Just got home and following along. headed to bottom of ninth tied at 3. Lets get a run!

Boardman gives up a bunt single.
Then a sac bunt attempt is too hard back to Boardman
and turns a 1-6-3 double play.

Now Hollingsworth comes in as the 6th pitcher of the day for Texas. A fly ball to Payton to the warning track in right ends the inning.

Going to the bottom of the ninth with a chance to
win it for the Horns tied at 3.

One out double for Weis puts the winning run on
second and Payton is walked intentionally.

Hinojosa singles up the middle and Texas wins
4-3!

The pitching today worked on multiple levels. Peters had six good innings though a no decision. Toller Boardman after a horrific outing last week gets an inning of work and no runs surrendered which should help his confidence and after two innings of work last night Knebel got a well earned day off and Horns got win.

Would like to see more from offense but clutch hitting in the seventh and ninth got lead and then the win.

This is a game Texas loses last year and that is extremely encouraging.

From now on it should be C.J. and Hollingsworth
gets his first ever win as a Longhorn.

Texas goes 5-1 and Nebraska falls to 0-6.

Actually we're 5-1 ... I like this team ... seems like they're gonna be fun to watch/follow this year.

I'm lovin' this team...the energy they play with as a team, and the will to win even when not on their best game. Also, looks like it's a real team effort to get the wins. Crucial hits scattered around, lot pf pitchers. By most accounts we were outplayed today and Augie mentioned it as well in postgame, yet we found a way when it counted. This year should be fun to watch, no doubt. Lord knows we need it now from one of the main men's teams.

clutch hitting can cure a lot of problems. Put that with great pitching and fielding and you have the ingredients for Omaha. Leadership from the players helps as well.
