ncaa tourney

Duke: check
Villanova: check
Kansas: check
UNC: pending

Damn, KU was just playing around with them in the first half.

and that last 3-pointer was from so far out, they should have gotten 4 points.

Under the Gallery Furniture rules...mom has now become a fan of KU for the next week. They are geographically closest of the four teams playing "for the big basketball championship in New Orleans."

My Jayhawk relatives thank your Mom:fiestanana:
LOL!

This is easier for mom...she only has the one week allegiance for the sake of free furniture (or, alternately, a credit of close to $6K if she takes the 150% component). If KU loses...she will likely think more highly of KU football than their basketball program ;)

Ku has built an impressive museum for sports. Clearly Basketball is King. The tribute to Naismith is well done.
They do NOT like to be reminded that Texas housed the Naismith stuff for them.

Kansas wins it 81-65. They looked like a pro team today - fast, were all over the Nova players, good rebounding, good from 3 point range.

Duke and N. Carolina up now

AND . . . Down goes Duke! 81 - 77

Too, bad for coach K. 42 years as HC and something like 13 Tournaments and 5 NCs or some such.

One more game for free furniture...

I would like a first-half blow-out so we can just go to sleep early. Although I DO have popcorn and beer...

mb,
Let's be truthful; you want a blowout so you can call Jim and tell him to "same day deliver" your refund.

LOL! I think mom already wrote the check to the bank...she won't be hurting if it takes a week. We are both just old enough that we rarely see 9P while still watching television anymore...

And as sore as I am from using the muscles yesterday that ordinarily are of the 'isn't that why we pay people' variety, I am in definite need of an early crash and burn...for some reason, cold beer just doesn't take care of all that ails...

Side note to all of this tourney talk: why did Manek have basically no impact against us for 4 years? I went back through all of the box scores and he really only "got to us" once in terms of efficiency and plaguing us in a loss.

He heads to the ACC and just turns it on for Hubie Davis? I can't imagine him making that big an impact on any game, let alone how he seems to excel in pretty important moments for the Tarheels.

Well, you got your first-half blowout. Hope you had a good night’s sleep.
I did switch to something else to doze off to...rolled over and went to check the score and found it was tied with about ten minutes to go...

Mom seems happy with the outcome though.

KU played pretty poorly and still won thanks to that 10-minute stretch of great shooting and stand-up D. Self is a good coach, but you need those players who can actually shoot to keep you in it. We haven't had that kind of consistency on offense.

They started out good and then got too complacent. I cannot help but to think that early 7-0 start had some of those kids thinking it was going to be a walkover...and then once NC stated coming back, it became quicksand.

While 15 points is certainly a deficit that can be covered in a half, I will readily admit that I did not have confidence that KU would come back. They seemed defeated at the half. Props to them for getting it together in the locker room and coming out strong to start the second half...I certainly did not anticipate seeing it tied within ten minutes of the half...

That 15-point comeback by Kansas is the biggest in championship history. When N.C. was up 40-25 at the half, I was thinking "Game Over" but decided to watch anyway. Glad I did, it was like watching a completely different Kansas team after the half time break.

Not only was the comeback impressive, the last 10 minutes were an exciting, back-and-forth contest. Fun to watch all the way to the last minute.

I was thinking of the humorous Irish prayer to turn the hearts of our enemies, and if not, then turn their ankles so we might know them by their limp.
