NCAA Football: 25 toughest places to play

Maybe Death Valley isn't that bad, but the Super Dome seems pretty tough. That and that stadium in Arizona. No wait, it just appears to be anywhere Ohio State runs into the SEC. 0 and 9 Shark, 0 and 9.

When they start out the list with #25, Miami, no way am I giving this list even another minute of my time. They can't even sell out their stadium. The home winning streaks are not because it is a tough place to play, look at their players!!!!

first off, that picture is of a half empty stadium. i defy you to find a game picture, from any time, where the stadium is half full. that is of warm ups or something.

second, did you read my post. the fans at texas, UNL, and OU are almost identical in terms of general excitability and noise production. which means, they are for the most part, lame. sure OU can get it up for Nebraska and maybe OSU... but that is about it.

that is why we are only a couple spots apart on this bad idea for a list. btw, UT's stadium is impressive and has a better overrall design that ours, most sooners will recognize that... but our's isn't too shabby (with more renovations being done). it is a pretty special gameday atmosphere, much like texas.

although our tailgaiting scene is pretty embarrassing due to the general layout around the stadium.

I guess I am going to have to agree with the sooners. I would bet, although I haven't been there, that the atmospheres are very similar. No doubt that DKR is head & shoulders above their stadium in looks and location the atmosphere is probably similar.

Personally, I don't have that much of a problem with our atmosphere. We get LOUD when it matters. I guess I don't feel that 90K people need to stand up and scream the entire game against North Texas. In games that we are blowing everyone out, it is fun to just sit back and enjoy the game. When we are in a close game and the team needs us then we get as loud as we need. Could it be better? Sure, but we are not that bad.

notreally,

His posts weren't even directed to you.

Anyway, it doesn't matter if there is 100 or 100,000 in that stadium. It still looks the same. The main point is the structure of the stadium.

This is all just pointless offseason crap. The list for the most part is stupid. It's pretty much based on how many the staduim holds, and how good their record at home is. My point is that OU's stadium is pretty weak when it comes to how it is designed, structure, etc.

Swooner stadium at Gaylord family field was pretty subdued when I went there. Of course, I picked a Nebraska game in the early 80's when I knew Corn would pummel them.

I haven't been in DKR in close to 20 years. I bought a ranch in the Hill Country about that time and spent a couple of years there. During those two years I think I attended every game in Austin but one.

I like going to games at DKR. The game day experience is good. The stadium is nice. The weather was generally decent.

Of course I am somewhat of a homer but I would rather go to a game in Norman. The whole game day experience is better to me. Of course I have better seats and parking in Norman than I had in Austin.

The crowd in Norman is generally more into the game and overall seems to have more football knowledge. I have been in every Big 12 member's Football Stadium and I think I would rank the experience as 1. OU 2. Nebraska 3. A&M 4. Texas

I think I could possibly interchange OU and Nebraska as number one. I like to watch the game better in Norman but the amenities such as bars, restaurants and the like I prefer in Lincoln.

I kind of like the "white out" look at Penn St.'s stadium...and for the most part, I think the "white out" "black out" "maroon out" days are over the top and contrived.

Sooner-Turf,
When your band only knows one song and plays it after a one yard gain, then you are immediately disqualified to be anywhere near the top of any list other than most annoying.

Shark, maybe you don't feel bad about playing in two BCS CG's. But you damn sure must feel bad about getting skulldrug twice.

And that 7-10-2 record is okay if you want to care about games from way back. I think the last time Ohio St beat an SEC team was my poor Tigers in 87 or 88. But thanks for trying.

Ags should be #1. I mean what other fan base is willing to squeeze and damage the family jewels for the home team?

It was only 20 years ago. I'm old but not that dang old, careful man. And I wish we would head that way sometime soon (not going to happen though). I hate my athletic department.

Beat some Spurrier coached team 62-24 in 95, for example. When ALL the experts said we couldn't match up with that GREAT Florida speed.

Then we destroyed Tennessee two years later for title #5, and then again in 1999.
