NBC Fraudulently Distorts Audio

Hui
i understand your point. But why keep it going with balant mispresentations that can easily be shown to be false?
some of the media are really making an effort to slant the story one way and in doing so are flaming the fires of racism.

Sure have ' reports" and angles on the story but to so clearly frame the story to the point they are doing doesn't show any regard for others in the story.

Flaming those fires lets you keep ahead of the competition and keeps your audience mesmerized and watching.

The wheels will fall off Fox when some other network decides to go rightie and they lose part of their audience.

The liberal press is fractured in a hundred directions because most journalists are nominally liberal. They have to fight to keep the liberal audience watching. So you do a little more work to show the evils of racism. To stay ahead of the liberals who are less inclined to edit in an inflamatory way.

Talk radio is conservative and those jerks fall all over themselves trying to be more paranoid than the next guy.

Keeps the ratings up. And the ad dollars flowing. If your audience leaves, even a fraction of it, the dollars go to other venues.

NBC must be stupid beyond measure if it honestly thought it could nefariously doctor tapes that everybody in the world had access to and nobody would notice. What would such a stupid, transparent attempt buy NBC longterm?

For once I agree with Satchel. It defies explanation as to why NBC would do this. It wouldn't take a mensa member to realize this type of alteration could be easily discovered.

Dan Rather's attempt gone blown up by some very clever and astute bloggers. NBC got outed by Rush Limbaugh.

Simple really. NBC wanted to gin up the whole "Racism is alive and well" narrative to get reactionary sympathy for the POTUS, just in time for the election.

Bring back the thrill going up the leg!

This whole story has been a rollercoaster ride...

1. Zimmerman was white, before he was Hispanic, but now he's a white Hispanic.

2. Zimmerman had head injuries until ABC released video that seems to contradict this....then we find out that he was treated at the scene and a witness claims to have seen a roughed up Zimmerman, until it comes out that the witness was actually in freekins Georgia at the time (I wouldn't put it beyond this case).

3. Now we're hearing that Zimmerman was in custody and questioned for 5 hours before being released. What we don't know is what was learned during the 5 hours, until it comes out that Zimmerman and the police were playing Zenga.

I mean for serious....what will we learn next...?

So then you're arguing that since they must have known people would find out about the editing, they must not have had any ulterior motives?

Andrew Breitbart says hi!

Satchel,

The people at NBC want ratings and they want more ad dollars. That they would "edit" the audio to portray Zimmerman as blaming Trayvon's blackness as being the reason he looked like a bad dude, is pretty clear that they were being nefarious and sinister.

The media is sinister. They are paid liars who are owned by a very small number of individuals who have certain political agendas.

their political agenda is to make money. If all of a sudden the networks all starting distorting the reporting to curry favor with conservatives, Fox would go left faster than Rick Perry can sing I've Been Working On The Railroad.

You guys need to follow media business news a little. The Wall Street Journal and the NY Times both do excellent jobs following the course of media business. It is a cutthroat business that is hugely profitable and brutally competitive. ]

Years ago one of the network news programs got caught blowing up a GM pickup to make the danger of side saddle gas tanks more interesting. They got caught. They usually don't.

It's commerce, folks. Get used to it.

Considering that they have to get a license from the FCC, why is the FCC not punishing the blatant acts of deception.

ABC 20/20 and the truck just mentioned.
Dan Rather
NBC and this 911 call

There need to be harsh penalties, c'mon libs why don't you regulate the airwaves like you do everything else?

NBC wants the black community to get fired up about this issue so they will ignore the incredibly high unemployment numbers for black Americans. Their motives are becoming very clear.

major: let's get the feds playing cop with the press. Just what we need. They do such a good job with the power they have now. Some kid smokes a joint and they arrest him, drag him to court shackled hand and foot and do strip searches, etc.

No thanks. Let them lie all they want. I will keep them under control by not relying on them or believing them.

Some kid in Florida got shot by a gun enthusiast. Big ******* Deal.

I should have put the
biggrin.gif
in my post, sorry.

I just remember the picture of that guy getting pulled out of the truck during the Rodney King Riots and having his head slammed with a brick for no other reason then the color os his skin.

When a government licensed broadcaster just makes **** up they need to be held accountable.

Hold them accountable by not watching any more of this garbage. As for ginning up a race war, that has been going on for a long time, hasn't it?

And NBC is not the only one doing it, now are they? Playing race cards is a sure draw no matter where you are on the political spectrum. Remember Willie Horton? That was kind of infamous, no? Was there any race card in that? Remember the bit in SC about McCain having a black kid? Any race baiting there?

This story is of some interest for no other reason than the race angle. If some black guy blows another black guy away, nobody pays any attention. OVer 90% of the blacks murdered in this country are killed by other blacks. Dog bites man. White guy killls black guy and it is man bites dog. It's news.

A few white jerks accused of raping a black stripper at Duke and it is national news. A white woman gets raped by blacks and its a yawn.

Race sells in this country.

Like I said, gun enthusiast guns down black kid a thousand miles away. BFD/

apologies for the diffident attitude. I just got finished reading an article at Taki's magazine by Kathy Shaidle in which she refers to "our national conversation" as "300 million people screaming at each other."

I guess I am getting worn out by it and getting cynical. AS Joan Didion once said, no matter how cynical I get, I just can't keep up.

Of course it is disgusting that a news org should manipulate a tape to make some person look even worse. These slights of hand are so common that I actually blew it off.

Shaidle discusses the Calley effect; LT. Calley, for those too young to recall, was the lieutenant whose troops murdered a hundred or so civilians at MY Lai. When he got convicted, he got a huge outpouring of support from everyone from George Wallace, the trogolodyte governor of Alabama, to Jimmy Carter, the more liberal governor of Georgia at the time.

She says the Bubba Effect works like this: we are so repulsed by the liberal onslaught that we defend some Bubba because he is more like us and we resent the way he is being treated. We leap to defend what is virtually indefensible. Killing somebody because they attack you because you are overzealous in your paranoia about black burglars for example.

My apologies to the other posters who make legitamate points about the abuse of the press. I don't expect much from the press to begin with and I guess I should.
