NEVER is pretty absolute. In a lot of "minor" sports, or sports where there are only a handful of team members (tennis or basketball for instance) it only takes one bad reruiting class, or a rash of injuries for a team to have a bad season.

Or a coaching change, especially if the new coach doesn't mesh with the players or the alumni or something...

I don't think you can do this for pro sports. The leagues are too volatile. There's no way that any single team is going to be in every playoffs in the NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB for the next 40-50 years. Just won't happen.

As for college, give me Michigan in football, Texas in baseball, Duke in basketball.

I honestly don't think any professional team could do it, NHL, MLB, NFL, NBA. Just too many variables.

Arizona Wildcats -- Men's Basketball. Zona has something like 24 straight NCAA tournaments, which is the longest active streak (even UNC and Duke missed the tourney in that time span).

I think you'd be more likely to see this in women's sports.

I'll take Stanford volleyball and Arizona softball.

Arizona has made the softball CWS 19 of the last 20 seasons, won it all eight times, and has an average yearly record of 54-11.

Stanford has made the v-ball tournament every year since 1980. Their worst record in that time was 18-12. They've made the Final Four 11 times in the last 16 years.

Nazareth girls basketball. 18 State titles (most in the nation) and 22 trips to the State Tourney since 1977.
