Myles Turner

Squandered? If he was defending and making his 2's and 3's he would have played. Did you watch the lottery pick play his last game as a Longhorn? He rebounded well but turned it over and was ineffective on O. If he played like he did to start the year Texas might have advanced because he would have played more minutes instead of sitting after the TO's.

I need to stop though. He came and got a chance to wear the Burnt Orange. He played well at times and rebounded well. The talent will show itself better in the league in time as he matures and learns how to create his own shot. He can stroke the J but needs to find a way to get open and create.(just my opinion) I was stoked he decided to come and wish he had stayed like LaMarcus for one more year but understand why he didn't.

Stay healthy big fella and wreck shop in da league. :hookem:

And, there you have it .. for all those who argued that Myles Turner was not a lottery pick, while I stood by my opinion.
Good for Myles and his future success as an NBA Pro.

But not understanding your gloating. Wasn't rocket science to think Turner was going to be a lottery pick. Everyone knows he has the potential and requisite height and many of the skills for a big man in the NBA.

The question was whether he was ready to play in the NBA as an impact player. Would he have benefited to have remained in school another year? Didn't hurt LaMarcus Aldridge to stay an extra year. Didn't hurt Frank Kaminski to stay all 4 years at Wisconsin.

All Texas fans are hoping Turner has a great NBA career. But there is a fine line between becoming a LaMarcus Aldridge and Cole Aldrich. Best of luck and fortune to him.

Rod and Craig were trying to be nice the other day, but it sure sounded they were saying Myles seemed like he hadn't even been criticized much before, and he took everything in the film room personally and started sulking, instead of looking at it as "I can be even better if I work on this stuff and learn".

I'd love to see him get 1 more year of experience under his belt, but as long as the NBA drafts on potential and not accomplishments he's a lottery pick.
Well, he was the #11 choice in the draft. He'll be paid quite well for getting NBA coaching and limited playing time next year. I would have loved to see him play here for Shaka, but cannot in any way begrudge Miles for taking the money, getting paid to learn the NBA game. I think he'll have a fine career at the next level.

I think he'll be a serviceable player as the main frontcourt option off the bench for any number of teams. I don't think he'll quite get to Tristan Thompson level any time soon, but teams are dying to have someone with Thompson's qualities.

Okay, it's only the 1st game of the NBA Summer League, but Turner looks damned good. Off season workouts have produced a much more muscular Turner. His game this morning showing elements of Tristan Thompson and LaMarcus Aldridge. 20 pts, 8 rebounds & a couple of blocks. Larry Bird & the coaching staff have to be happy.

Like I said, should have stayed another year - - - - what do I know!! :whiteflag:

Pacers traded Roy Hibbert to the Lakers. Looks like Pacers are ready for Turner as their big man.

Turner had another good game today against the Magic - 13 pts., 9 rebounds & 6 blocks.

Jonathan Holmes tonight struggled in his Celtics' debut against Utah in the Utah Jazz Summer League. I think 2 pts. Passed up too many catch and shoot opportunities and his playing time was limited to short 4 to 6 minute intervals. Hopefully he will do better tomorrow night.

Turner continued to turn heads today in his 3rd summer league game as a pro. And now generating media attention for his feats.

Myles Turner has been wowing everyone who has watched summer league. If Twitter is to be judged, he has been the best performer by far in Orlando — and the stats aren’t so bad either.

He finished with 23 points, 8 boards, and 4 blocks in a win today over the Detroit Pistons, and Turner had 20/8/3 in his debut against the Miami Heat on an impressive 8-for-11 shooting. The middle game wasn’t as eye-popping (13/9) but he did block 6 shots in a loss to the Orlando Magic.

Numbers in a glorified pickup game rarely translate to the professional game.

But Turner is doing more than that, showing some range, hitting tough shots after beating defender and, o yes, blocking shots. Block so many shots.

Today, he may have had the best of all. We’re still waiting on video, but Sam Vecenie of CBS Sports shared an image. Just look how high up the ball is when he swats it.

Some say the Pacers reached for Myles Turner and should have taken Trey Lyles or Cameron Payne. That could end up being true. But so far, it looks like Larry Bird found a gem with the 11th pick.

Turner did not play in his final 2 or 3 summer league games which I take as a good sign for him.

Appears that the consensus from the talking heads (Greg Anthony, etc) is that Turner has had a great summer league and looks to be a contributor during the season. Indiana has traded Roy Hibbert to the Lakers, so the path is set for Turner to earn court time during the season. Just needs to keep working hard because the results so far have been very good.

I didn't watch Holmes last game with the Celtics, but from what I read, he had his best game of the summer league. Hoping the Celtics sign him so he can participate in their training camp. If not, maybe another team will pick him up.
