I'm disabled. When I said 'from my chair,' I literally meant from my chair -- as in, wheelchair. Too funny.

I am lazy as hell, though. But in this case, I feel it's warranted.

All of the data and phone are CAT5, to my knowledge. The automation system is a HAI system. They're top of the line. Here is a link to their website.

I guess it isn't that big of a deal, but CAT6 or 5e is rated for Gig Ethernet. CAT5 is rated for Fast Ethernet (100).

Bob, it could be 5e, but I'm not a network engineer, so the terminology may have been lost in the shuffle. The whole thing is costing me about $20K, so I'm not getting a bad setup, by any means.

There's no way that any installer worth a crap would be putting in Cat5. It is at least Cat5e

Ditto on the interior wall insulation, especially between the living areas and adjoining bedrrom walls. It's not expensive, but the sound deadening is worht it in my opinion.
