My Daughter's Marriage

BWAHAHAHA Aces, just wait dude. I have an 11yo and another on the way. Right now it's all about managing the budget so I can afford shampoo, conditioner, and toilet paper for three women. At this point, weddings are the LAST thing I worry about!

Pickle juice is just salty water. And acid.

Weird that I was just having a conversation today about a wedding I groomsmanned(?) in Annapolis where I sweated through my wear so bad I had to throw the Tuxedo away. I'm sure the alcohol back then (1991) didn't help.

I doubt I will ever have much more than a small ceremony (if even that) for my daughter and I have mixed feelings about that, but I would tell you that quite a few families (probably a couple of hundred) in Texas spend in the range of $50k for a debut party, at least that much again for involvement in some sort of presentation (Fiesta in San Antonio) and then pay for a couple of weddings for her. I don't have mixed feeleings about that program.

You'll be alright. Hydrate, look for shade, wait as long as possible so Texas has time to cool down and then let the breadth of your smile as you enjoy your daughters joy let cool air into your lungs.

That's beautiful Stina. We just got finished with the rehearsal and dinner. It was hot, but not nearly as bad as I would have thought. I had to wear slacks and a black golf shirt (per the daughter rules).
It's gonna be a good weekend I do believe. Thanks everyone for helping the Okie.

Had an August wedding two years ago, clouds came and it was fairly comfortable, maybe 85 or so. Just make the wedding last 15-20 minutes, none of that Catholic ****! I've been in 6-7 weddings the last 6-7 years, nothing worse than a Catholic wedding. Also, we spent $10-12K and I paid for all of the Honeymoon, that's your responsibility as the groom (paid 4-6K for an all inclusive in Belize, fyi).

The biggest concern is that everyone have fun at the party. Seems to be that people lose sight ofwhat makes a party fun.

Good music + plenty of food + plenty of booze (kegs if need be) = good wedding

Agree. The OP doesn't need to hydrate as much as he needs to refrain from dehydrating for the event. Sodium encourages the body to retain moisture.

While my body was having a tough time with the sodium, I couldn't break a sweat in August in Texas.

One of her opening songs at the reception is her mother and I's first dance song at our wedding.........."I Will Stay" by the Jefferson Starship............time to get another bottle of Tequila....and I got practice at 5am tomorrow.............this emotional numbing medicine can go the other way on ya at some point right? Blubbering idiot! Gotta sober up.

Everything was beautiful and went off without a hitch. Her in laws are lovely people and I got to sing the ending song. She was beautiful. They had disposable cameras on every table for people to record the memories. Nice idea. Thanks to all for your advice. I didn't melt as I thought I would and was as stoic as I could be.
The groomsmen were drinking Jack Daniels out of flasks and I politely declined, but hit the wine and beer hard after the ceremony.
My baby is in Mexico with her husband and I am very happy. An overprotective dad who feels really good about who my baby chose and all the people around them.
The women in his family are very nurturing and positive.....deal closer.

If I did I did not do a good enough job! I did put a voodoo curse on your leg, however. That seems to be working out much better.

I hope you hafta escort my crippled *** into the Cotton Bowl. Seriously though...........the leg thing is getting scary.

$24K ouch - My father-in-law, an okie and a great guy, made us an offer - we could have a 3 week honeymoon and get married in their back yard in late July in Texas or a big wedding inside and a weekend honeymoon. We opted for the backyard and were done in about 15 minutes. Wore a white jacket and black pants. 22 years later and an 8 year old daughter and I think the guy is a genius. I think he was all in for about 8 grand - but that was in 1988. Will make the same offer to my daughter and future husband.

My daughter got the same offer, comlete with the down payment on a house and her honeymoon. Wouldn't do it. Stubborn runs in the family.
