Graduation is only a few years away, and the recruits of the Longhorn D are salty. They are ready to eat their own guts and ask for seconds. The coaches are proud to see that they are growing beyond their control. Muschamp does not want robots. Muschamp wants killers. Muschamp wants to build indestructible men, men without fear.
 
He wants animals who will eat their young and devour all that is around them

Far and away the best effort of the season. Final score should've been 52-3.

As it is, Muschamp & Co. held Arky to 191 total yards, 12 first downs, 2-of-13 third-down conversions, 1-of-3 fourth-down conversions, 11 rushing yards, 0.4 yards per rush and a respectable 6.4 yards per pass attempt while collecting six (?) sacks, forcing two turnovers and scoring once.

And, yes, I am a statmonkey.
 
Everybody's gonna say that this was a bad team they beat today, and they certainly weren't great. But it's not like Alabama shut them out and didn't give up any plays. They threw for 217 last week, so it's not like they couldn't throw. Considering how bad people said this secondary was, I'd say holding Arkansas to 180 was a solid performance, even if we didn't have the freshmen back there.

They still have work to do, but this is a group that's starting to come together. Nice job today!
 
When Williams picked the ball and ran it back 81 yards, the stadium got as loud as ever. And his defensive mates raced to celebrate with him in the endzone. Palmer won. They mobbed Aaron.

Postscript - Aaron Williams is a FR out of Round Rock. I am a Westwood alum. No matter. "Go Rock" may be deserved.
 
Good grief, I would hate to see some of the handwringing on here if we gave up 400 yards and three touchdowns today. We played one of our hated, historic rivals, and we absolutely smoked them. It wasn't even close. Our defense held them to 3 points.

True, the contests get a lot harder from here on. But if you had told me before the season that our young defense would give up fewer than 14 points per game in the first four games, I would have gladly taken that. These games build confidence and help our defense gel as we get into the tough part of our schedule. We'll see if they have grown up enough to meet those big tests, but I think they are making some progress.
 
Credit definitely to Muschamp and the fire he has lit, and his gameplan - but what makes me feel great about the rest of the season is that we have the best secondary coach in the nation helping Muschamp. If there's anybody who could have those young guys ready(ish) by the time we play Oklahoma, it's Akina.
 
I think our D-Line is starting to really gel. They are harrassing the qb with reckless abandon. The D-Line is the key to our young secondary's success and they are starting to come on strong.

If we handle CU at home, watch the **** out!
 
Muschamp's attitude is being demonstrated by the offense as well. Everybody on the team in any position is buying into the accountability and take-no-play-off mentality. In particular, Colt McCoy and Jordan and Quan are playing no different than the attitude of all the defenders. Just doing it on offense. Perfection. Relentless demand of excellence and execution.

Every player on defense takes pride in making each play -- and each act they do on a given play -- as if that play is THE play of the game. The most necessary play. The most important play. The hardest effort made on a play.

Every single play. Period.
 
Beating Texas was a grabastic fantasy for Arkansas. They came to Austin and we insisted they get the **** off our obstacle. And they did. They returned to their Mary Jane Rottencrothes in Arkansas as we continue to move toward the perfumed Red River. We'll arrive there after we leave Colorado for the mother lovin' rats.
