Moving into a house... electric/gas questions

waldo...I'll stand by my above post. It would probably be worth the money to hire a licensed electrician for an hour. You could explain everything you would like to do, now or in the future, they could assess the situation and tell you if there are any problems(ie. service capacity) and map out the easiest way to make things happen. It should be under $100.00, and money well spent.

No. I'm saying it is not a valid reason to deny a homeowner's insurance claim.

Besides, they're really more like guidelines anyway.

Ok... turns out their existing dryer is already electric, and the gas valve behind it is shut off. I guess I should've checked that first. Also, we have decided not to do anything with the 2-prong outlets for now. All of our electronics that need a ground wire will go in rooms that already have them.

That leaves the range which, for various reasons, we will likely leave to an electrician.
