Movie scenes that sank your heart

I saw Last of the Mohicans this Wednesday for the first time since I was 10 (it was the first R-rated movie I was ever allowed to see, and only because I read the book). It is a gem of a movie, but the last scene really got to me:

CHINGACHGOOK: The frontier moves with the sun and pushes the red man of the wilderness forests in front of it. Until one day there will be nowhere left. Then our race will be no more, or be not us ... The frontier place is for people like my white son and his woman and their children.

HAWKEYE: That's my father's sadness talking.

CHINGACHGOOK: No. It is true ... One day ... there will be no more frontier. Then men like you will go, too. Like the Mohicans. [pause] And new people will come. Work. Struggle to make their light ... One mystery remains.

HAWKEYE: What is that?

CHINGACHGOOK: Will there be anything left to show the world that we ever did exist?

In addition to the previously stated Forrest Gump scene (Forrest first finds out he has a son and he asks Jenny if he is smart) and the Pursuit of Happyness subway bathroom scene (Will Smith is covering his sleeping son's ears as a stranger bangs on the door), here are a couple that come to mind:
Life is Beautiful - when Begnini's character is finally caught and knows he is going to be killed, but he must keep up the pretenses of the 'game' to his onlooking son who is hiding in a barrel.
My Life - several scenes in this Michael Keaton movie: the older, dying Michael Keaton comes home to find a circus in his backyard, which he had lied about as a kid; Keaton's father shaving him with Keeton meakly watching him before grabbing his father's hand and saying, "I love you Dad."

Thread's been going awhile but first time I've ever read it, and I must say, damn fine read gentleman

For me it's definitely Old Yeller, with not much else coming close, although the I Am Legend seen brought similar feelings :/

In Phenomenon, when Travolta's cahracter already knows he's going to die, he says to the girl "will you love me for the rest of my life?" her response almost brought a tear to my eye (I don't cry) "No, I'll love you for the rest of mine."

Cuz she's going to die after him. Probably.

I second the "My Life" movie. My then girlfriend (now wife) made me go to that movie. The scene (or scenes, I refuse to watch it again) that grabbed me was when he started video-tapping himself speaking about all of life's lessons so those videos could be played to his kids after cancer took him. Then, at the end, when his wife is playing those videos back to the kids, I lost it.

Lord of the Rings, when Gandalf, after looking like he defeated the big dragon looking thing ("You Shall Not Pass!"), got dragged into the fiery abyss.

The Elephant Man, start to finish, but two scenes in particular:

When the famous actress reads Romeo & Juliet with him.

The climax in the train station: "I am not an animal! I am a human being!"
