This gets confusing- I thought Conservatives like Newt hated when the government got itself involved with people's personal affairs. All we hear from Perry, Bachmann and Gingrich is that there is too much government power, legislation and bureaucracy.
So, while people are entitled to their views on abortion, I thought we left each other alone as good Libertarians do. I mean, if there wasn't a market for abortions and health services, places like PP would vanish on its own- the way a Conservative would want it to happen. But clearly there is a need and a market for professional and safe reproductive services.
Also as a Conservative, I don't want my taxes raised so I can fund some other family's unwanted childhood. If the govt. forced any husband and wife to keep a child they never planned, could afford nor wanted it would be much more challenging to raise them properly so that they grow up to not depend on govt. services.
So to summarize- if its about moving oil across my land or water supplies- the govt. should stay out of it. But if its about the decision on whether or not to keep a pregnancy- the govt should regulate both the decision and PP's ability to provide services.
