More annoying: 'Get in the hole' or waving?

The only saving grace to the "get in the hole" screamers, is that whenever I hear it, I picture Bill Murray hunting gophers with explosives, and expect to see a couple of trees falling over any second.

CAD, I saw that lady, and your hilarious description of her is almost exactly how I felt at the time.

We can always debate whether hitting a golf ball or a baseball is harder, but it seems pretty clear that both are pretty freaking difficult. So I don't really see why golfers get to demand absolute silence.

All that aside, "get in the hole" guy is not bothering the golfers because he's yelling after the ball is struck. He's bothering ME, because he's a clueless idiot, and he should be banned from the course.

Pardon my ignorance (and I really shouldn't be here discussing, but I got curious) - what is the problem if somebody yells "get in the hole" or "God bless america" when the golf ball is in motion? It does not disrupt the golfer, right? ... If the guy paid money and want to let out a little yell to enjoy his time at the golf tournament, what is the deal? ..

Is it that the phrase itself is just annoying? Would it be OK if he started saying stuff like "go to the hole" or "Come on, let me see it in the hole" or "hole-bound, yeehaw!" or whatever other nonsense?

Again, I know nothing much about golf beyond what birdy, eagle, bunker etc mean ... And all the Tigers have not managed to get me hooked enough on the sport. I respect the sport only as a tough one to master that a lot of people like .. So pardon my ignorance.

It is that it is stupid and done all the time. Imagine somebody yelling, "Throw a long bomb and make a touchdown" when their team is on defense. Like Run DMC says, they be illin.

OK, so it is just how often it is done and how it is almost always meaningless, that is truly annoying. That makes sense...

Next time I see golf, I am sure I will also start getting annoyed too, now that you guys have focussed on it. That is how annoyances work sometimes. Once we get alerted about something we could get annoyed about, we can't stop getting annoyed
