Miss St vs Horns DH

Borba gets the final out. but they are going to review it. slow ground ball and bang bang. MSU challenging it and should, it ends the game. but it looks like he is out.

Should be the end of the game.

So when I think of Schloss I cannot escape the wisdom of some TCU friends of mine who a couple of years ago said of him when he left for aggy, that he's a mercenary with very questionable morals but once you get past that he is an extremely good baseball coach. A few of my aggy friends now share that same opinion. I keep thinking about that and whether the first part is true or just sour grapes, the second part is absolutely true. This start by Texas has just been phenomenal and maybe they come back to earth soon and struggle to be .500 in the SEC (I would still take 16-14 conference record right now if it was offered) but my Longhorn baseball optimism meter is just through the roof right now and opening the seaosn with a road sweep, how cool is that! :hookem:

34 win streak by the 1977 team? I was NOT there.

Schloss is amassing a lot of talent in the next couple of years but not sure we will ever break that record especially if the SEC stays as strong as it currently is.

Schloss knows what he is doing, in just a short period, he was able to acquire enough through the portal to get the right kids to compete in the SEC.

I still don't know where we are in the pecking order of the SEC and Tenn looks really really tough but we are ahead of MSU :smile1:.

I was there. Seems to me Rice stopped the streak with a crafty right hander named Alan Ramirez. Later that season, four of my dorm buddies drove to CS to see Texas play the Ags in double header on a Saturday. It was right in the middle of the Ags spring football practice and we were surrounded by several football players in the stands (David Walker, Phil Bennet, and Frank Myers just to name a few). Not surprisingly, a near fight broke out in the stands, but we made it out safely.

As a side note Andre Robertson was the 2b for that team and he was the first African American to receive a baseball scholarship.

I don't remember ever seeing Andre play, just remember we had two infielders drafted IIRC the 7th/8th round. Never heard of either of them, so I called Bill Little to ask "who the hell are they that the Yankees drafted them".

Those that knew Bill and shared confidences with him can imagine his response.

I also seem to remember stories of the Wild Bunch chanting "Rally Killer" when he came up to bat.

Schloss is not an easy coach to warm up to, but then again I had trouble warming up to Augie at first (he had a tendency to throw players under the bus in post-game interviews his first couple of seasons). Winning, of course, solves a lot of things...:smile1:

giveem,

Some people NEVER 'warmed up" to Augie, but not without reason. I made damn sure he knew my thoughts in our one and only conversation. No proof he was a mentor of Kingsbury

UT is my school. But those Ohio uniforms are something else.
Here they are:
