My mother-in-law found a lump in her breast about a month ago and the tests came back as positive for cancer. The doctors are very positive because they cought it very early. She is having surgery Friday to remove the lump and anything else that may be needed. She is expected to have six weeks of radiation. She is the mother of four boys and grandmother to my daughter and is the center of the family. Please keep her in your prayers.

I also have a co-worker who survied ovarian cancer four years ago and founf out last month it's back. She was initially told she would have to go through 3 rounds of chemo and now her doctors are saying it will be six or seven. It's hitting her a lot harder this time and her spirit is really low. Please keep her in your prayers too.

Both of them will be in my prayers.

Is your MIL in San Antonio? If so, my mother is a breast cancer survivor and has had many wonderful doctors through the years.

Recently my mother has been going through many tests for ovarian cancer, so I know its a tough time.

Just try to keep them both positive and just keep on praying.

SAchick, I hope you are doing okay.

Both are in my prayers. I have...had?...breast cancer and have had a bilateral mastectomy and 5 of 6 rounds of chemo. I can tell you without a doubt that the constant love and care of her children...including you and your daughter...will be the single most important thing contributing to your mother-in-law's well-being in the near future. Blessings on you all.

Eyes…my prayers are with you too. Any of you…or anyone on hornfans…please feel free to pm me to just talk, vent, whatever. I know that I may not help anyone, but I’ve learned the best way to deal with these things sometimes is just to let it all out on someone you don’t really know.

Women are very strong. As mentioned my mother is a breast cancer survivor, but lately has had more scares. Although I don’t know personally what she is going through…or what you, eyes, are going through, I know it must be scary. But from my side I know that the best thing is to stay positive for my mom. Try to be the best daughter I can be during this time. Family is really important during this time.

I wish there was more I could do to help than just my words since I’ve been there. But regardless, even though I’m a stranger to many of you, I will be here to listen and offer my prayers. I’m so fortunate for having such a strong mother.

On another note, my mother and I have always done something to raise money for breast cancer. We are selling pins right now. But I want to do more….as does my mother. We don’t have a lot of money, but would love to volunteer doing something. Does anyone know a good place in San Antonio or South Texas to do this? Or anyone have any ideas of something new to start? Maybe a horn fans type thing?

I don’t want to single out breast cancer, but it does affect many people on hornfans personally and it was just a thought.

Again you all are in my prayers.

Thanks for all the prayers. Her surgury went well and the doctor believes they got it all out and it had not spread yet. She will still have to go through six weeks of radiation to be on the safe side. The radiation will happen around the holidays which will make it a little difficult for her but she is okay with that if it makes her healthy.

My Aunt Winnie is a 23-year survivor of breast cancer. Your loved ones who are dealing with this terrible thing will be in my prayers.

Having the radiation at the holidays might be a blessing in disguise. Perhaps she will focus on the holidays and the gathering of family and friends and won't be so bummed about radiation therapy.

Continued prayers - please keep us posted.
