Miam's #1 pick - what if they forfeit it?

Great strategy that needs to be tested out just for the interest and study value alone.

And, of course, here on my soapbox where I have no responsibility to the fans I can say with absolute certainty that I would do just this if I were drafting for the Dolphins this year. There's no reason to waste all that cap space.

Of course, it leads to the humorous train of thought regarding what would happen if the 2nd team then didn't pick because they didn't want to pay #1 money, then the 3rd pick realized what was going on and they certainly don't want to pay #1 money, etc. Pretty soon the draft would be 5 hours old with no players off the board. Agents would be on the phone with every GM, deals would be discussed (we'll take your guy right now and he'll be the #1 pick but he's gonna get paid like he went #10).

Glorious entertainment would ensue.

there are several owners that would swap 1st round picks with Miami straight up. I don't think anyone needs to worry about that.

John Elway didn't hold out, the Colts drafted him in the '83 draft, he threatened to not play and they traded him to Denver prior to training camp...

Calling Bo Jackson a 'holdout' is a major stretch, his true future was in MLB, if he hadn't ****** up his hip playing football he'd have been one of the all-time greats...
