Mexico ready to deal

At the same time it causes more businesses to come back to America and provides more work here. It's not a zero sum game.

Certainly, but while that happens the economic impact would result in a Republican blood bath in 2020. Of course, many woud simply wait out the change in administration.

Tariffs of 5% to a 3rd world country are not going to destroy the economy.

Economists would disagree with you. Read an article last week that said Apple exports to Mexico (our largest ag export market) fell 30% in 2018 due to trade wars. The ag economy is already in a significant bind and can't consume more impact from a trade war, specifically one unrelated to immigration.

These same economists also said that Trump would destroy the economy. As I said this is not a zero sum game. Apple exports may have trouble but this economy is the best since the 60s. Yes, the ags have some difficulty now but will be better in the long run. We will have some difficulty due to the trade war with China as of now but in the long run we will be better.

Did you mean Apple or apples?

It appears Mexico is agreeing to immediately start looking at its laws and regs to see what might need to be addressed to fix up whatever problems might exist. I breathe easier knowing this. What a fugging accomplishment this is!!!!

Talk about diplomatic skills!!! So impressed

Border arrests, a metric for illegal crossings, plummeted to 51,000 in August, according to preliminary government figures obtained by POLITICO Wednesday, down more than 60 percent since a peak in May. And border watchers say it’s largely because of an agreement Trump struck with Mexico in June. Mexican authorities, backed by the newly formed National Guard, are now cracking down on migrants traversing Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala, monitoring river crossings and stopping buses carrying migrants from Central America through Mexico. At the same time, the U.S. is making tens of thousands of asylum seekers wait in Mexico while their applications are considered.

Ooops....
