My Ballys are 8 years old, used to be worn daily, and still look great, best $280 I ever spent on dress shoes. First office job I had, my boss said go out and buy the best dress shoes you can afford, nothing ruins a day like having uncomfortable feet.
Johnston & Murphy- my own personal favorite. Comfortable out of the box and room for my orthotics.
Allen Edmonds are real comfortable, but remind me too much of "grandpa"
Bruno magli's are grat shoes too, but i would opt for Bally first.
I used to sell shoes at Morgan-Hayes in the Galleria in Houston in 1978-79 it was a pretty good job for a high school kid with 8% commission + whatever hourly was. More importantly I got laid a couple of times from girls I met standing in front of the store when it was slow.
If you take care of your shoes they can last you a very long time.
