Mavs/Lakers Predictions?

sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/news/story?id=6487063

Artest suspended for game 3 as expected. Only Kenny Smith thought he wouldn't and Kenny just doesn't make a lot of sense most nights. Why to Smith it makes a difference if a guy hits you with his forearm or fist is beyond me. When you run 1/2 way across the court to hit a guy you aren't even assigned to, the league is gong to suspend.

Nuclear I think are you are giving the Mavs too much credit. They have played well but it is really the Lakers beating themselves right now. They shot 2/20 from 3 in the last game and most of those were wide open good looks. Dallas bench has outplayed LA's and LA has not used their size inside as Gasol and Odom have not shown up for the series yet.

I still think this series goes 7 and it has nothing to do with the refs.

Who said luck?

You go listen to any national media and they are saying the same thing. Gaso, is nowhere near as productive in this series as he has been. That has to do more with his own play than anything Dallas is doing defensively to him. Same goes for how LA is shooting.

Who's team got knocked out of the 1st round?

You are right it is about match ups . Dallas has done a better job exploiting their advantages than LA does. Gasol and Odom have not played bad, but they are not playing anywhere near their potential and this has hurt LA. You are correct that Dallas does have a size advantage, but that depends on LA's lineup and the advantage is not for the entire game.

Nuclear, why so negative? Are you a die hard Mavs fan and feel I personally insulted you? Seriously, I think most of on here are Longhorn fans 1st and other sports fans 2nd to that. If you can't have a civilized discussion with fellow longhorn fans then you probably aren't a true longhorn fan. You certainly are not demonstrating very good character.

Your are free to whatever opinion you may have but do not think for a second that it is consistent with what other basketball fans and the national media have. Thus your insults seem to be unfounded and lacking validation.

I have to admit that I never saw much of him prior to these playoffs, but think Bynum has played pretty well. For such a big guy he has very nimble feet and a nice touch. The Lakers would probably do well to go to him more.

I think this series is about players that are stepping up for Dallas and players for LA not so much.

I think Odom has played about how you would expect. He is always erratic.

The Mavs have a better bench than the Lakes. I don't think that is debatable.

Pau has been playing like gash for several weeks now. He looked unimpressive, even shite, against the smaller, undermanned New Orleans squad. He just isn't playing well. Bynum is playing about how I would expect under the circumstances.

I continue to believe that the Lakers simply have no consistent jump shots on the team outside of Kobe. Their offense is inefficient almost regardless of who they are playing, especially in close games where everyone stops wanting the ball and, just as everyone knows, Kobe ends up taking most of the shots.

The Mavs have been the better team and will continue to be the better, hungrier team unless the Lakes elevate their play. Artest's apparently heinous intentional foul seems to me a demonstration that the Lakes may not be of the mindset to mount a serious run at getting back in the series.

The Mavs didn't even play very well in game 2. They shot 42% and had a fair amount of dumb turnovers. Peja went 0-5 from 3 and most were wide open looks. He hits 2-3 more of those and the game is 20 pts down the stretch. I realize the Lakers missed their 3's too, but an open 3 to Peja is like a 17 foot jumper to most. Stevenson did go 3-6 with a banked 3, but the Lakers will have to get into the 100s to beat the Mavs in Dallas I think. The difference in the game was the Mavs got 6 more pts from the line and hit 4 more 3s. It's really that simple.

Only question in my mind is if the Mavs can stand up to the pressure. They aren't getting many free throws in this series because Dirk can't drive against the height the Lakers have, so they have to keep making jumpers to win.

Lakers finished 1st half of game 3 strong. Outscoring Dallas 34-12 in the paint. Dallas shootin well from 3 otherwise they are in a bit of a hole right now.

It is funny how we can overanalyze everything and so much just comes down to making your shots.

I might have to revise my Mavs in six prediction. lol

Leave it to the Lakers to make this old Spur a Mavs fan.

Dallas won another Game by outplaying LA in the 4th. Dirk played great. Dallas scored 20 in the last 5 min and had 4 threes in the last six min or so and LA just couldn't keep up. Dallas killed LA in this game from 3 and from the line where they got 29 attempts to LA's 14. Very strange to when you see the point discrepancy in the paint.

Mavs outscored LA 60-20 from 3 and from the line.

Bynum played like an all-star.

Sitting in the ER with my 82 year old mother. Fortunately she is going to be fine, but still got to see the game. Dirk is just a beast. 4-5 from beyond the arc. He got the ball on every position down the stretch. What has changed for him is his ability to draw the double team on the drive and make the right pass. Bout time Peja heated up. If he starts to get hot I really like the Mavs chances. Their spacing is so good when they are making their 3s. I thought they took too many 3s early because it was the wrong guy at the wrong time. Last 6 minutes was the exact opposite.

Wad, I hope your mom is okay. TV's are so great to have in hospitals to help provide some distraction.

Hope the next time Kobe wags his finger, some Mav grabs it and snaps it in two.

It strikes me that DIrk has gotten much stronger now. Obviously compared to his early years when he was a stringbean, but his body now is really big. You combine his willpower and his ability to lead - which he has never been given sufficient credit for - and he's one tough sumbitch. I hope his team continues to shine around him.

Nuclear, probably just going to have to put you on ignore. Glad for your benefit you haved toned down your Mel gibsonesque tirades b/ c you were just clearly embarrassing yourself. You have shown little respect for others and exposed your character flaws. I will admit to being a little loose with jabs on here several years ago, but I have learned to appreciate this board and it's membership and try to talk to others as they are in front of me vs saying whatever comes to mind as an anonymous poster. I do question your ability to intellectually have a discussion as even your insults of a very generic regurgitated nature. I hope you do not possess a degree from UT as that may only bring the value of mine down a bit.

No use in continuing this dialogue. I will briefly address a point or 2 in your last post. Feel free to respond in any manner you see fit to make you feel better about yourself. I will not respond as again there is seemingly no point.

I think that if you sweep the two time defending champions, they should just cancel the rest of the playoffs and name you champions.
