Mavs/Lakers Predictions?

I would really, really like to believe that Dallas could win one in LA, but I have a hard time figuring out how. My heart says Dallas in 7 but if I'm putting money down, I'm going LA in 6.

I'd like to play but I know the great impact I have when I make stupid predictions in favor of my favorite team. So I'll just stay mute.

Lakers in 7. Just don't dribble out the clock at the end of game 6 please. I loved the way Aquire played down in the post at 6'6". He was fun to watch. I watched the Horns play #1 DePaul in the drum. Unfortunately we got hammered in the 2nd half.

If we had Butler, I think we win in 6 or 7 with home court advantage. I think we lose in 6. It all depends on whether Terry and Peja can remain hot. If so, it changes things. Right now it looks good, but our D is horrible with these two on the court and we are lucky Kobe has missed a couple of wide open looks. Problem is Stevenson and Brewer are not O threats at all, and they are the only ones that can stay with Kobe. Marion is an option but cannot move laterally enough to stay with Kobe.

End of 1st half. Wow once again. Get me a gun. Can't believe Terry was that close, but that never gets called. Once again the refs take over the game. Tech on Dirk was more ridiculous then the one on Terry. Just wow refs. You suck once again.

And why I will go to bed and maintain my stance that the NBA is the worst of all pro sports.

Lakers in 4 with 10 point assist per game via the refs. Get used to it Cuban or please sell the team to give them a chance. As long as you are there this will continue to happen.

Call on Terry was legit. Call on Dirk was semi retarded. Should have been a no call or double foul. But the retaliation always gets called.

We have to shoot lights out in 4th to win. Lakers are just too good. I could see them winning in 5. They play bored during the regular season and played bored against NO.

Also, please sop airing Cheryl Miller and her overactive head bobbing.

You are forgetting that the Lake Show has one Kobe Bryant on the bench. They need to get up by 6 to have any chance and Phil doesn't let them go up at all without reinserting Kobe. Weez ******.

Third Coast - you were the only voice of reason. Mavs bench + Dirk/Kidd in the end with a little splash of Chandler and it's all good. Need Game 2 to really establish something heading home.

Too bad Wadster didn't stay up for the game. Now he'll have to start a Lakers choking another big lead.

Oh and Mavs in 6.

Watched the end and I did think JK grabbed Kobe around the waste. Kobe tripped on his foot which was not a foul, but JK fouled him earlier in the play and the grab around the waste set the fall in motion. In the end JK missed one FT and Kobe still got a good look on the 3 to win the game.

Stats that stick out are Artest going 1-8 for 2 pts and Bynum with 8. Lakers get anything from their front court and I still think the Mavs have big issues in the series. Good thing is that Gasol can't cover Dirk as Barklay said. I don't think Bynum can do it either. Series may very well come down to benches so that may give the Mavs an edge. In games Bynum plays to his potential the Mavs, won't win. Just you never know what you get with Bynum.

Dallas radio is funny. I love how the "tables are turned" by one comeback win.

Here's a thought: the Lakers sometimes lose Game 1's. The last time they lost a series was 3 seasons ago. To think that the Mavs should be able to put up similar results for 3 more wins against a team that basically coaches itself while Jackson watches is wishful thinking at best.

Kobe's going to rip into Bynum and the bench at practice and they'll turn it around, just like they did for the NO series.

Ok, I admit. I turned the TV off after the first 7 points of the 2nd half but only because I had a 7AM meeting this morning. I'm convinced however that had I watched the game, the Mavs would have lost (sarcasm). I could not believe it when I turned on Sportscenter this morning.

To the posters talking about the Lakers can lose game 1's. They are spot on. If any team has an on/off switch, its these guys. Go Mavs.

"It does make game 2 a must win for the Lakers."

Well, in the obvious sense, yes it does. Something like 3 series in the history of the NBA have been won by the team who started 0-2 (*cough* Mavs-choke *cough*).

But I honestly don't think the Lakers look at series that way. The Lakers have basically been "uncoached" since Jackson came back from his year hiatus. He's a guru who helps with meditation before games. During the games, it's Bryant, Gasol, and Fisher that dictate what they're going to do and who's getting the ball. They're the very definition of "one game at a time," as their performances against crappy teams shows.

Like I said, Bryant will think up ways to keep the bench charged up for the next game, and get Bynum to make one of his missed slam dunks, and then it becomes a much easier game tomorrow.
