Mavs chances against Spurs

Strange series.

Neither team appears capable of simply taking the thing. Both teams are schizophrenic, at the moment. Honestly, that is a microcosm of the entire Mavs season. World beaters one game, dog crap the next.

Mavs fan here, how did Popovich not adjust for Berea? I was astounded to see him doing it again!

can't wait for game 4 Saturday, should be good.

mavs have proven to be most dominant so far...but lots of games left.

mavs: 65/35.

p.s.: "We" just won the 6th Man Award - Jet said the Fans deserve some of the credit. Cool. Can't wait to put that in my Trophy Case.

The complexion of these 7 game series can look very different from game to game. But I must say, that the beat down the Spurs took last night was hideous... they appear to be spent and mentally done. But a win in Game 4 and we have a very different looking series. I'm not sure what to think about the Spurs right now.

Credit to the Mavs for coming out and putting it on the Spurs.

Today's game is as close to a back-to-back as you'll get in the playoffs - though it's still within 4+ hours of it being exactly two days. With Duncan already being less than 100% this shouldn't help him.

On the flip side, we haven't heard anything about Josh's ankle lately. At the end of the season they were resting him on 2nd games of BTB's. He could be a little gimpy today.

Spurs last 8 shots were 3's, making only one. Strange ending. Mavs shoot less than 40% but survive. Lots of different guys for Mavs, but no bigger than Hollins and Josh Howard.

as a Rockets fan watching as a completely neutral observer I just have to ask - Where the hell has the Spurs team that I'm used to seeing gone? Whatever happened to the Spurs that used to make all the key plays in big games, always showed poise down the stretch, the Spurs that actually used to play DEFENSE?

If some Spurs fan finds that team he needs to contact Greg Popovich and R.C. Buford immediately.

Duncan is not healthy. Several members of the Spurs are way up there in age. Spurs do not have enough offense. Manu being out hurts but this team needs more offense and needs to get younger, maybe losing in first round will force them to make needed changes?

It's funny, the more Parker does against the Mavs, the worse I think the Spurs actually are. The rest of the team is so out of it by the end of the 1st quarter, they are just standing around waiting for him to do something. Kind of like the Horns when we had KD.

Dirk and Terry aren't giving the Mavs near what they would want, and it just doesn't matter. I think Dirk is an 0-fer on 3's in the series. But Wright, Kid, and Howard are making them. Not sure the Spurs have a lot of options with Manu out, but Parker has to get the rest of the team involved. By the 3rd quarter, he's trying to go one on 3 and it just doesn't work as he gets worn down.

this spurs team isn't the "real spurs" and those spurs aren't what they used to be.

2-on-5 can't win the series. parker and timmy are making a great effort.

Also, The Mavs are definitely peaking at the right time. The final game vs the rockets was basically a playoff win also, after taking must win games from the hornets & the jazz earlier that week.

Spurs aren't dead yet, but I'm movin' the Mavs' odds up to about 90% at this point.

Without Manu Dallas is just better right now.....With Ginobli and the way the Mavs are playing right now I think it would be a tight series. In his absence, Mavs in 5, 6 at worst.

Well there goes my theory. Parker scored 43 and Duncan scored 25 in game 4 and they still lost by 9 points. Problem was they got absolutely no help in game 4. Besides these 2 guys the rest of the team made only 6 FGs the entire game......that is just pathetic. Finley and Bowen cannot give you 67 minutes and only contribute 12 points.

The mavs used their bench, made their FTs, and rebounded the basketball.

I don't mind Bowen not contributing that many points because of his defense. But Finley's defensive skills leave a lot to be desired at this point. I don't understand why Mason got so little playing time - he's a better offensive option than Finley and while he's not a great defender either, he at least have enough lateral quickness to not get blown past by the Mavs' guards.

For what it's worth, I actually talked to Coach K last Thursday (for real), and he said if it wasn't for Kidd the U.S. team might not have won the gold.....he was very instrumental in the aspect of leadership for that team.

The Spurs actually need to sign draft pick, instead of letting them go to Europe and play. Also, they need to sign free-agents who we've heard of. Spur fan its time to get rid of Manu, Bowen, Vaughn, Oberto and Udoka, possibly Finley. Time for a youth movement or sign a big-time free agent to play with Tony Parker after Duncan retires, cuz we all know that once Timmy D hangs them up, TP is gone to the Lake Show !!!

Both teams will be freeing up some serious cap room in the next 2-3 years. Mavs maybe sooner as they could get rid of Damp and let kid retire after next year. I do like what I'm seeing out of the Mavs young guys. They will need to be able to sign 2 top tier elite free agents and they can remain competitive. Problem is the damn lakers. They have a lot of guys right at their peak and will be very good for a while. Memphis killed the rest of the west letting Gasol go for so little in return.

It's just speculation since his wife is a TV "star", they may want to move to LA. SA will probably overpay for Tony when his deal is up.

Mavs with control of the series right from the start. VERY impressive series for Dallas. The only issue was game 2, and they righted that wrong with a blowout win in game 3 to reclaim the lead and never look back. Even without Manu you have to say it was impressive.

Duncan played with a lot of heart tonight. Trouble is Dirk cancels him out. Jet basically cancels Parker out and there just isn't enough left. With Manu back the Spurs will have the offense, but they gotta find some perimeter defense.
