Maui Invitational

Wowzers....I just looked at the bracket and noticed that our game is at 4am central time if I'm reading that correctly. Man, that will feel like getting up for the World Cup games.

Whew! I had another bracket open that I found on Google and it said 10a.m. and then (5:00) next to it which I figured was Eastern time.

Should be a fun three days, but it's a much weaker tournament than anticipated when it was put together. Alabama lost to Mercer, Oregon lost to Oakland U., St. Joes fell to Holy Cross, and Indiana has been far from impressive so far. I don't expect any of the first round games to be very close except for perhaps Oregon/Bama, with the winner getting slaughtered by UNC the next day. The Tar Heels practically have byes heading up to the title game.

If UNC does not have Hansbrough back then the loss of Zeller will have an impact in this tournament. I'd rather be on our side with the tough tests we might face. St. Joe's is never a terrible team and if we get Notre Dame then we will get the tough match Barnes wants to prepare his team. Toss in a possible matchup with UNC in the final and everything that Barnes wants to accomplish in this tournament is achieved.

I think it's a shame the Alaska tournament has gone by the way-side. I'd like to see us get in on the CBE Classic....That tournament is really starting to pick up in terms of quality teams. Obviously I don't know how the experience of going to the Maui Invitational is but I would think it would give a team a good idea of tournament type travel. People have always seemed to put the Maui Invitational a step above other tournaments and it's quite an achievement to be invited.

Just got back from the Tip-Off Banquet at the Hyatt Regency here in Maui. It was cool to see all of the teams walk in the banquet hall through a Hawaiian warrior greeting, with the different groups of fans for each team cheering them on. Should be a fun three days.

I conveniently scheduled the chimney sweep to clean our chimney at 1:30. He should be done just about tipoff time.

Sloppy game. James is really forcing it. AJ is providing the cushion for Texas. He may be the best pure shooter that Texas has ever had.

I don't know about any of you but I don't want to hear from rtw21. All his I am in Hawii and it is great stuff is making me sick. Keep it to yourself rtw some of us have real jobs and can't take off whenever we want. Your boss must by a hell of a guy.

How many chip shots can our big guys miss. James is going to keep shooting until he makes one. I'm disappointed that we arent up 20 right now.

I do not like what I've seen at all, with the exception of AJ.

Why is Ward getting all these minutes? He's been awful.

fall...You've got Mason on the bench with 2 fouls...Not to mention Connor and Dex. Forcing Rick deep into the bench. I don't know what RIck sees from Chapman right now because last year and so far this year I still think Wangmene is the better player.

Do we even practice offense? I think we may need to mix in a shooting drill now and then. AJ is the only one who can even take a shot without falling down or looking like he goes to school on the short bus. We are bad, bad, bad on offense. *** bad, not bad ***, by the way.

We are going to have to depend on these guys down the line, so I guess it's good to get them some extended minutes in a game like this. The dumb turnovers are frustrating though.

If the offense ever catches up to the defense this team will be very tough. This may be the best Texas defense I have seen.
