Weiss:
First-pitch sacrifice fly to center scores Montalbano. RBI for Weiss. Payton stays at second, two away.

Walsh:
First-pitch high fly to center. Wacker squeezes it to end the inning, but not before Texas scores another on two hits.

Maryland to bat in the top of the seventh. Terps need five runs to prolong the game beyond this inning. Milner stays on in hopes for the complete game.

Kiene:
Chopper to second. Loy's tag isn't in time to force Delp out, but Loy makes the throw to first in time to retire Kiene. Juuuust missed a double play there. Runner on second, one out.

Marquis:

Strike swinging, 0-2.
Ball in the dirt allows Delp to move to third, 1-2.
Popup behind the plate. Lusson settles under it to record a very important out No.2. Maryland down to its final out.

Stinnett:
First-pitch grounder to third. Weiss makes a diving stab, rises and guns it to first to preserve the shutout! Man, this Weiss is a player.

Sweet shut out to take series 3-1.

For a first weekend of the season there was some obvious rust to be worked out and areas of improvement identified, but the freshman look really good and this team looks really stout.

Definite Omaha potential.

Very impressed by the freshmen Mark Payton and Erich Weiss, so far they are the most impressive offensive players IMO.
