Martellus on Hard Knocks

Anyone been watching this show? The guy just doesn't get it. I am a major Cowboys fan but I still refuse to root for his success.

Yes, sir.

Hard Knocks is an HBO show with an inside look at Cowboys training camp. Both episodes I've seen have included an entire segment about Martellus and his attitude problems. In the most recent one, they got Magic Johnson to pull him aside at practice and talk to him 1-on-1 (with Jerry Jones included of course). Martellus just looked off into the distance like he wasn't even listening. Does the same thing when a coach tells him to do something. He even rolled his eyes at the camera once when told to do something. I know he's not the only guy like this in the NFL, but he's still a head case. Needs a wake up call.

The guy had to tell him like 10 times to put his helmet on. Either he was unable to focus and hear the guy or he was just refusing to do it to refuse.

He doesn't seem like the type of player who really is dedicated to getting better.

It's hard to tell how much is real and how much is creative editing to create a story. It looks to me that he has no interest in playing "the earnest rookie" for national TV, and it's hurting his image.

Peter King said almost the exact same thing in his Cowboys camp report a few weeks ago. He basically said Bennett was lazy and sulked a lot.

aside from his being a jackass i never understood the pick from a purely football p.o.v. should have gone defense there, imo.

First of all, even though I am not a Boys fan, that show is awesome.

Second, I have never seen a professional athlete so lazy and such a headcase. Obviously, I don't see the behinds the scenes of too many pro teams but his behavior is UNREAL. He is a kid who is thinking "**** it, I got a $1.2M signing bonus. I am set. **** this other ****, like working harding."

He will be out of the League within 3 years.

Jerrald cannot be happy about this pick.

OTOH, Felix Jones is going to be a stud.

i was going to post about this after watching the show last night. All that money. No effort. If I was that coach, and I saw hard knocks last night, that sorry pos would be running laps the whole practice. I would be chewing his *** up and down the minute he got to practice.

anybody got a link where the ags are making excuses? Is this the guy that was also the basketball player that was 5 star everything?

We have to remember that former Aggie Linebacker Dat Nguyen played for the Cowboys and was outstanding until injuries forced a retirement.

Martellus is really coming off very poorly in the show so far. what's worse is that there have been rumblings that his teammates aren't taking to his attitude very well. I'm sure the show is making it much worse. He looks immature, lazy and disrespectful on the show. One scene showed Martellus rolling his eyes after the TE coach was getting him to listen to him. If he were an undrafted FA, no way he makes this team. It sure looks like he was a bigtime reach in the second round.

Mack curse number 1,276.

I don't understand why the coaches, or even the players don't jump all over his ***. I'm assuming they haven't since it appears he's still responding to Coach Garrett in the same manner he did in the first episode of Hard Knocks. That **** shoudn't be tolerated.

Does anyone know what his aggie teammates thought of him?

I heard Jason Whitten interviewed on The Ticket by Bob and Dan last week. They were talking about the rookie harassment that goes on. Apparently another rookie TE was made to sing in front of the team at mealtime. Bob asked Whitten about Bennett singing, apparently knowing full well that he had refused to sing. Whitten basically said he'd be getting his for refusing to sing. Sounds like Bennett is basically telling Whitten and the rest of the vets to f' off.

I was just about to comment on if anyone else noticed he walked off without singing to the vets. They would have grabbed most guys and made them sing before leaving. Where's a Ray Lewis when you need him to mix it up with a disruptive rookie. Even Tank and Witten passed on that idea knowing it wouldn't help and he still wouldn't do it. Just that little episode right there soured his teammates a ton. I guarantee it...that's a huge form of disrespect. And he refused to do so even after other rookies complied.

My take is this...he just doesn't get it and doesn't want to. You can poke and prod this guy until you're blue in the face and he's still gonna give you the efort HE WANTS and that is all. He has no respect for anyone but himself...players, coaches, even a proven superstar like Magic.

My question is how did he make it through all the combine interviews and close background investigation without Dallas getting a read on this horrible attitude? It's not something that grows overnight. Hard Knocks is not the first place I've heard of his worthless demeanor. But after 2 shows all I could think was cut his *** now and take your losses. This team is flying high and doesn't need a back-up TE (and an Aggie no less) to bring it down. Tony Curtis is serviceable enough to run two TE sets and make a few catches aside from his goalline scores. Not to mention, MB is gettin' his *** handed to him in blocking. Hit the road, Loser...you don't deserve a ring.

was he the aggy who was injured and went shopping while a game was playing and then said he didn't bother to listen to it on the radio?

i remember a few aggies and some sips for that matter defending the kind of person martellus was. said he was a joker kind of guy and very sarcastic. wasn't serious much and everyone just takes his comments the complete opposite of how he meant it.

do y'all care to explain now?

Just read a few articles (DMN practice observations) saying 'Tellus lit up the Broncos in both blocking and receiving. Looked solid in two straight practices.

"Rookie tight end Martellus Bennett had three catches in the morning and showed a burst up the field after one catch."

"Martellus Bennett put together back to back solid practices, and he caught the eye of owner and GM Jerry Jones. Bennett was particularly good as a point of attack blocker, but he also had a catch down the middle of the field after running a crisp route the gave him separation from the safety."

I know this doesn't change his attitude, but at least we may get some production along with the dragging ***. Just when you bash an Aggie the sun shines across his backside...

To say this kid is taking up space is being nice...Why the hell did they draft him that high anyway....

They could have wasted a fourth or fifth round pick on that turd...I'm not sure he's even able to read a playbook, much less understand his coaches.
