Makes me SICK

The point being that all our bigs should reset when the shot is not there, that means to pass, get position and get the ball back in a better position to put it up.
All our bigs had 2-3 Arky players falling back and clogging up the middle . A few passes back to Abram, Mason and a dribble drive would have made Arky play more honest man to man without the help from the side and top of the key.
Opens the offensive lanes for easy shots.

If you know ANYTHING about basketball, you know that was a TERRIBLE team we played last night. We played like utter children in a 6th grade AAU team. Make your excuses, but that is not one of them...Not only are they bad, but they played awfully. My friend who played AAU ball against Rotnei Clark and Willie Warren (Team Texas) was watching the game with me and the entire time he was making fun of how bad they were--the team, not those players. Not that it took that much intelligence or experience to figure it out. We simply are NOT that good. Next year can't come quickly enough...

Yes Nordburg I DO luv this basketball team but just like you luv your kids - they can frustrate and disappoint you at times. It seemed to me that last night was a total meltdown of our team and quite honestly...our coaching too.

We played like utter children in a 6th grade AAU team.

Dexter doesn't look much like a 6th grader (in fact, he could probably fit a whole 6th grade team inside his shorts), but I believe I've seen middle school teams convert a higher percentage of their fast break chances than the Horns did last night. The Horns do plenty of things well out there, but it seems that the majority of their runouts - even three on ones - end in turnovers.

Ah, my apologies on the dubious post. I was trying to say Arkansas was "they." To me, UT will always be "we." BOTH teams played like 6th grades (and yes, I do agree Dexter was one of the few players who played well and hard enough, Johnson was good too). Both teams were terrible. Arkansas IS terrible. And I'm beginning to question us as well...

to be a Final Four team you need a third and fourth option. James has not turned out to be a dependable 2nd scoring option. When they shut AJ down we seem to be done. That's not that hard to figure out. We need to be able to hit the open 18 ft shot and not miss the little bunny layups. Pittman has been a suprise. James, Atchley and Mason need to step up or we'll have problems makeing it past the first weekend of the NCAA

It sure wasnt a desirable outcome....But we have to hope this game contributes to a great NCAA run.

I don't know why Damien ran out on a guy that can't shoot the 3, other than that lucky one he had earlier.

AJ certainly did not have a good game.

Over-reacting on hornfans, as usual. Barnes' teams have consistently peaked offensively towards the end of conference play....do we need to remind the negative nancys that conference play has not even started? And we have 16 games to figure that out?? Patience....basketball is a funny game....there are many more variables than in something like football where it is much easier to walk onto the field and execute a play just like it is practice. What is keeping me so positive is the defense....that is one thing that will never go away, and will always keep Texas in the game.

After living through the strollin' Nolan game, losing to ark will always make me throw up. I thought after about 20 years I would not feel that way but here we are. I love Mason but he cannot hit the side of a barn right now. Granted, Balbay can't either. I would give Ward much more playing time right now. I know Barnes wants Mason to shoot his way out of the slump but maybe some bench time will help him come out of it. Obviuosly the season is not over at this point but I am disturbed by some of these trends if we are to make it to the sweet 16. Lots of games to go though and I will be at the Erwin Center for every game chanting "DEFENSE", no matter what. (even if the losers near me want me to be quiet)

Well, if you think that people are just being negative, then you obviously either:

A) Aren't watching the games

or

B) Don't understand properly the dynamics of college basketball

As your post denotes that you watch the team frequently, I'd assume that B is the proper answer. You can't chalk EVERYBODY'S complaining up to being negative. People have legitimate complaints. The team has far more problems than usual. Having no PG is the primary one, having one reliable shooter is the secondary one. There are numerous other problems, but those seem to be the two most important by far. People pointing them out (oh, and these are INSOLVABLE problems BTW) does not make them negative, it makes them realistic. I'm sorry if I insulted you, I wasn't meaning to. But, seriously, wake the hell up man...

Who would have thought 10 years ago, that we could find fault w/ the #7 team in the nation..expectation are a mofo. I would just like to see more of a inside game and better FT shooting.

I know the team has issues....EVERYONE does. My issue was that people were over-reacting to a non-conference road loss with still half of the season left to play. And even if it is a "big upset" (I think by the end of the year it won't be as big of one), it is still no reason to get excited.....look at UNC, or worse, look at BC! Upsets happen in college basketball a lot easier than in something like football.

Anyway, the bottom line is I thought people were over-reacting to a non-conference loss.....if this was mid-Feb., maybe the backlash should be different. Does that make sense?

For what it's worth, I have not been able to watch the team that much because of what my life is like, and I live in NY. And I know my fair share of basketball.....its a little pretentious of you to stake that claim.
