MacFarland taking a USC visit

If true that JM is going to that ********, I'm reminded of something that Woody Hayes said to a recruit who told him he was going to Michigan:

"You're going to Michigan? Why, you dumb no-good son of a *****. You go right ahead! You go there, and when you play against Ohio State we'll just see whether you gain a yard against us all day. We'll break you in two."

Shipp is doing an in home with him tonight and the sooners think they are going to get the commitment. Most people feel the same way.

However, if he does not commit to ou in the next couple of days, then our chances are a lot better.

No Agahyere, no McFarland.

I remember last year when we lost out on Chancey there was a lot of talk of how he was a big loss but we REALLY want McFarland.

Well... who do we REALLY want next year?

I was impressed that he wanted to go somewhere to get a quality education. That he now is leaning toward OU tends to suggest his values are shifting. What a shame for him and his family if he makes the wrong decision.

I would agree with this as well.

It seems like his relationship with the line coach is outweighing the rest of what he was looking for. That's not completely irrational or anything. But like you said his values changed. He likes everything about UT but he likes their line coach more so I suppose that's what he is going to follow.

He appears to have Sooner written all over him..

Is there a real chance the DC or D-line coach leaves OU or is that simple speculation?

If it occurs after he signs, he will not be granted a release. If Shipp bails before signing day, he might not sign with OU, but that doesn't mean Texas gets the nod.

Some good news, MAYBE. Word is that Ken Norton is getting an in-home tomorrow night. If that is the case then maybe Shipp could not close the deal. Heres hoping.

Or he's thanking him in person and saying where he's going. Of course a phone call would save everyone the time and trouble so that may not be the case.

As far as I know Shipp leaving OU is just false speculation.

Yeah as soon as I clicked the <Continue> button I realized it. Just too lazy to bother changing it.

I agree with Dirty Martin. You never know who a recruit will choose until he chooses. Even then he may change his mind at the last minute on signing day. Fortunately nearly all of the Texas football players who choose Texas usually don't change thier minds.

I remember reading a year ago or so how important academics at a top notch University was to this kid AND his parents. Now, with ou with the supposed lead over UT, the importance of academics in his decision has taken a big back seat to athletics. Hmmmm.

Well we do know he did NOT commit to Ou last night when Shipp did his in home. I think he is suppose to have an in home with a Texa coach Friday. I think his heart may be in Texas afterall...who knows.

Well, as many of you should know, when you are someone like Jamarkus McFarland and you are the BMOC, especially ata school like Lufkin, you basically assume that you are a lock for the NFL, wethere or not you're right or wrong. That's just the way it is. Maybe academics were important a year ago, but now, with the NFL on his mind, he may be just thinking, well, OU is in the MNC, maybe they give me the best chance to go the League. Hopefully he waits for his decision until after january 8th.

"Well, as many of you should know, when you are someone like Jamarkus McFarland and you are the BMOC, especially ata school like Lufkin, you basically assume that you are a lock for the NFL, wethere or not you're right or wrong"

Haha...Javorskie Lane...Haha...

Haha.

He was dumber than a box of rocks then, and after his aggy "education", probably still is, only more so.

In McFarland's defense, he's actually a very well-liked, smart, good guy. I'm glad he's going to get to play for a school other that aggy, which is for the most part, the only D1 school Lufkin players ever go to.

Down to UT and OU has to be tough for a kid with the way both of these teams are playing this year. Texas has a big need at DT. Now that coach Muschamp is staying hope that helps get some of these top notch defensive prospects left on the board.

Saw a guy from Round Rock at DE undecdied yet and in Ketch's top 15 from Texas. Loston also still undecided.

the kid from round rock is from stony point. my daughter goes there and i've seen tevin mims play at least a dozen times over the last couple of years.

the kid is a stud and i was hoping mack would give this kid a look, he is 235 or so on 6'3" frame and he will end up 265 or 270. this guy can play make no mistake about it....

hope he ends up wearing orange....
