Lukas Schiraldi Coming To UT

"Former Longhorn Calvin Schiraldi tells me his son, Lukas, will pitch for Longhorns instead of signing pro contract. He's a JUCO transfer."

I knew Calvin pretty well when he was at Texas and I kind of thought he would want his son to come here if at all possible or feasible.

That 1983 team was one of the best at Texas although the 1982 team that didn't win it all might have been even better.

If Lukas can come in and perform anything like his dad did he will have no problem going pro in the future.

The 1989 team was gangbusters in post season until the WSU melt down. Lot of great Horn baseball in the 1980s. Played in the title game 4 times in 7 years. Pretty salty.

Yeah, too bad we left Shane Reynolds off the post season roster in '89. Although walk-on Brian Dare held WSU down pretty good after they knocked out our starter. Who knew they would have Pat Meares at SS, Eric Wedge at C, and Greg Brummett pitching against us?

Crazy....there's going to be a Schiraldi and Clemens on the roster at the same time soon and both are pitchers.

Now if we could just get another Coolbaugh, Cesarik, and Bryant to score some runs, we'd be in the CWS again in no time.

I think to go along with another Clemens and Schiraldi you would need another Brumley, Killingsworth, Hearron, Bates, Hodo, and maybe a Sutton to transfer in from a baseball program that folded.

Can he hit? Pitching has not been a problem as of late.
