You need an impact wrench .Beat a slightly smaller size socket on the lug nut and put a impact (air powered )wrench on it, I guarantee it will come off. The quick torque of the wrench will get it loose. If you don't know anybody that has one, rent one.

If you try hammer on a smaller socket then I suggest you try using a metric socket. I doubt you could get the next sized fractional socket on.

If it already is a metric then reverse what I said.

And I would second the notion of not trying to shoot your tire with a shotgun.

And depending on how well you blocked your tires you can roll the car off the jack while jumping. Did that once on my MGA. It's a real pain to get a car back on a jack when it's flat on the ground
