LSU Schedules 2008 Game vs Championship Opponent

Leach will play any team as long as it is a home and home. Tech will no longer play away money games and they would have been perfectly happy to host LSU in 2008 and play there in 2009. Lies Miles did not want to play in Lubbock.

First off, a very proud Austin-raised alum of Appalachian State. I was driving from CO to Austin when the last AppSt @ LSU game occurred and was able to hear it on the Baton Rouge AM station you could pick up anywhere after dark (yes, even CO). Here's the part of the story you haven't heard:

The score was only 14-0 at the half, when the word came down that Furman, App State's divisional rival, just lost their game that evening. With the knowledge that Furman's demise meant App State won the Southern Conference title and would have a good seed in the (then) I-AA playoffs (which they eventually won), they put in their 2nd and 3rd stringers for some experience against the Tigers. To put up that kind of fight at Death Valley inspired that team right through their 1st National Championship. I believe LSU was #7 at the time. Even if it weren't for Michigan this year, LSU would not sleep on the Mountaineers this go around.

I heard some after game commentary and even Glen Dorsey was very suprised and impressed how well App State played them in their house. Obviously Les never warned his alma mater....

Go Apps!

BTW, that first National Championship was the same year as Texas' NC. When Carolina hoisted the Stanley Cup 6 months later, my personal trifecta was complete, what a year!
