LSU is NOT a better team

Might be sour grapes but I don't care.

The op did not say Texas was better than LSU. The commentators and many act like LSU is light years better than Texas. The series was very close and could have gone either way. Count me in with the op's opinion.

Ever heard the comment, "Both teams were great and it is a shame one had to lose" Of course LSU earned the championship and I've cngratulated my LSU friends. But they have not pissed me off like so many sports people have by saying LSU was head and shoulders better than us.

And don't call me AGGY. I've been a Longhorn all my life and I'm a '73 grad.

The thread title is what people read and respond to the most. And it's a stupid thread title.

Texas proved that LSU was not light-years better, as many fans and media asserted before the series. The LSU fans I know feel damn fortunate to have won Game 1, and they know the series could have been over in 2 games with Texas winning the championship. Anyone who watched the games knows that to be true.

But LSU did what it took to win Game 1, and to dominate Game 3, even with their backs against the wall in the first elimination game they played all through the NCAA tournament.

LSU earned it.

We're going to have a nice team next year, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do.

Oh, and only a complete SEC homer can turn two responses out of 20 or so into "typical Hornfans" but that is what SEC homers do-- ignore facts in favor of their own agendas.

Ah, the classic red herring. If I had nothing even remotely relevant or intelligent to contribute, I might do the same.

If I am breaking a rule, notify a mod. So far the only posting guideline violation I have seen on this thread is your personal attack directed at me.

sorry, astrovol, but I think your first response to this post is what got you in trouble--you seem to generalize what a FEW (if not ONE) person was saying--you can't apply that aggy-type logic to this board, wont work--this board is generally a little more tongue-in-cheek to that kind of response unless you attack everyone here as a group, as it seems you did--my guess, would you care to respond,is that you made a hasty mistake, and possibly recount your words and rephrase what you meant--we are, afterall, mainly adults here...

Thank you to those who understood me. I thought my post was very fair, I said LSU deserved to win. I was just tired of the USC treatment LSU received and was simply saying they were not as far ahead of us as the announcers and pundits said.

I am no aggy. I am an 82 grad who has been a die hard since 70. I remember listening to UT baseball games on my transistor radio. One of my favorites is when we were down 8 or 9 runs to Mississippi in the 70s and came back to win. I remember Spike Owen, Jim Gideon, Calvin, Shiraldi, etc etc.

Anyway...thanks to those who understood.

espn was definitely pro-LSU---from the attire they were wearing to the criticism they were making of every UT player---kind of embarassing if I were an employee of that network, including Robin (I got my *** kicked by Nolan Ryan) to Orel (used to be my fan favorite) Hershiser--man, I missed Harold Reynolds

Guys, don't take the typically weak SEC flame bait. The jealousy of the pale orange team in turmoil, the fake UT, is mighty. Don't. Keep. Taking. The. Rancid. Bait.

Ignore.

"Typical" was a poor word choice. The majority of posters on HF (particularly the baseball board) have their heads screwed on straight, and I apologize to those who do who felt I lumped them in with those who don't; that was not my intent. However, that is by no means the first time I've seen the "we're Texas" double standard issued, and it won't be the last.
